  • Publication number: 20040166006
Abstract: A valve plate assembly includes an upper valve plate, a lower valve plate, an annular spacer and a center spacer. The annular spacer is located between the upper and lower valve plates and around the outer periphery of the upper and lower valve plates. The center spacer is located at approximately the geometric center of the valve plate assembly to provide additional support for the valve plate assembly.

  • Patent number: 4503347
Abstract: A hermetic motor-compressor has a motor cover or shroud overlying the end turns of the motor windings. The motor cover is secured to a fastening device in the form of a ring held in place by the stator fastening bolts. A molded plastic holder or retainer for a motor protector is fitted on a lug formed on the ring. The retainer is adapted to hold protectors of different physical configurations. The lug projects upwardly inside the cover and in one embodiment the retainer is trapped between and held in position by the ring and the cover. The protector is of the thermally responsive electrical cutout type and is maintained in closely overlying heat conductive relationship with respect to the end turns of the motor windings by the motor cover. The parts which hold the retainer and the protector in place are movable into their holding positions by the act of moving the cover down into position, in a direction generally parallel to the axis of the motor.

  • Patent number: 4250864
Abstract: A heat exchanger (10) disclosed functions as a grate for an enclosed stove and includes a front hearth section (14) of an upwardly opening U-shape including tubing for carrying a fluid to be heated. An open end of the front hearth section allows an associated stove to be stroked through a front door opening thereof as well as through a top opening of the stove. A rear flue section (20) of the heat exchanger includes tubing for carrying fluid to provide preheating thereof by flue gases prior to passage to the hearth section. Inlet and outlet tubes (24, 26) of the heat exchanger respectively supply the fluid to be heated to the flue section and receive the heated fluid from the hearth section. A central connector tube (28) preferably extends between the flue and hearth sections with grate tubes (30) of the hearth section extending from the connector tube to define the U-shape thereof and with a pair of the outlet tubes communicated with upper ends of the grate tubes.

  • Patent number: 4153392
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a lubrication system for a compressor which provides means for separating and flushing foreign particles contained in the lubricant so as to minimize the number of such particles being circulated through the lubrication system thereby reducing the possibility of damaging the bearings. The foreign particles are separated from the main lubricant flowpath by centrifugal forces and are flushed downwardly into collection means in the lower bearing housing and out through a passage provided therein back to the oil sump. An extension of this passage in the lower bearing housing is also adapted to cooperate with a portion of an axial thrust bearing to prevent rotation thereof.

  • Patent number: 4111278
Abstract: There is disclosed an improved sheet metal muffler for attenuating the sound of the gas discharged from a hermetic refrigeration compressor, wherein the muffler generally comprises a sheet metal casing having a hollow interior which is divided into two substantially equal chambers by a central baffle, with a restrictor tube extending through the baffle for placing the chambers in communication with one another, the restrictor tube being provided with a flared entrance portion at its upstream end and a venturi-like restriction intermediate its length.
