  • Publication number: 20130330177
Abstract: A refrigeration compressor is provided and may include a shell carrying a suction-inlet tube having an outlet nozzle opened to the interior of the shell and a cylinder block to which is mounted a suction muffler that incorporates an admission tube provided with an inlet nozzle. The inlet nozzle of the admission tube may be disposed adjacent to the outlet nozzle of the suction-inlet tube. The inlet nozzle may admit—under at least one of the conditions of underpressure in its interior or deflection of the refrigerant-fluid flow in the interior of the shell the gaseous phase and may direct the liquid phase to a region of the shell external to the inlet nozzle.

  • Publication number: 20020166294
Abstract: A shell (20) of generally spherical form is constructed by assembly of a plurality of oblong segments (30). The segments are obtained by dividing a spherical rhombic surface into equal parts such as by lines (40) running generally parallel to opposite sides. A half dome is obtained by dividing the figure in half with a great circle (22). Partial segments (27, 29) are utilized with no resulting waste. When used as building or other structures, improvements are realized in cost, strength, and conservation of energy and material resources.

  • Patent number: 5464536
Abstract: An apparatus and method for centrifugally separating a mixture of liquids comprises a central inlet shaft, a surrounding rotor, and a housing shell. The mixture is injected into the rotor through the inlet shaft and the rotor separates the mixture in a radially sloped separation space containing a first weir, discharges the lighter liquid into the housing through a channel through the weir and wall of the separation chamber, and discharges the heavier liquid into the housing over a second weir. The inlet shaft may be built up to provide for efficient shear mixing and a sieve may be provided in the separation chamber. A two-stage separator may be constructed by providing a second separation chamber radially outward of the first after mixing of a separated liquid with a solvent and providing suitable discharge ports.

  • Patent number: 5355765
Abstract: A barrel has an inner tube with a chamber at one end and a muzzle at the other. The barrel guides projectiles such as bullets as they are accelerated by a propellant. The inner tube has an aperture near its front end. Propellant passes through the aperture into a propellant chamber formed by the inner tube and an outer tube positioned about and secured to the inner tube. A plurality of ribs extend between the inner and outer tubes. Also, a coolant may be inserted into the propellant chamber to escape through the muzzle with the propellant after the projectile exits the muzzle.
