    Abstract: A writing instrument having a tubular body with an elongate writing member, such as an ink tube, therein is retained to the palm or the back of a user's hand by a strap around the hand having a magnet therein. A tubular magnetically conductive insert is positioned within the tubular body and around the midsection of the writing member such that the central portion of the writing instrument is attracted to the magnets in the strap thereby retaining the writing instrument to the user's hand.
