    Abstract: A card feed system for feeding cards into a card handling system is disclosed. The system includes a card input department with a playing card support surface, a front wall, a rear wall and two side walls. The playing card support surface slopes towards the front wall at an angle between 12 and 22 degrees. A slot is provided in the front wall to allow single cards to pass into the card handling system. The card feed system also includes a card moving system to advance cards through the slot.

The storage means is associated with an input apparatus for the insertion of cards one by one into the compartments (69) and an output apparatus spaced from the same for the shuffled cards, with the drive of the shuffling storage means (2?), the input apparatus and the output apparatus being controlled by a microprocessor. The number of shuffled cards supplied to the output apparatus at a time is adjusted to be the number of cards necessary per player for the respective card game. In order to improve the shuffling result in such a shuffler it is provided that the cards supplied to the output apparatus are taken from at least two compartments (69) of the shuffling storage means (2?).

    Abstract: The invention comprises a pre-shuffler that receives a quantity of cards to be shuffled, such as nine decks of cards. One embodiment of the pre-shuffler includes a horizontal moveable box having, for example, nine compartments with vertical walls for separating the cards to be shuffled into groups. Cards are placed into all or some of the compartments in the box, and a shuffling sequence is then commenced. A motor moves the box containing the cards so that the cards in the first compartment are deposited into an input tray of the main card shuffler. The main shuffler then forwards the cards in the input tray one by one, via rollers, to selected card receptacles in the main shuffler. The process is then continued for each group of cards in the pre-shuffler until all cards are in the main shuffler. The main shuffler then shuffles the cards in a normal fashion. The cards output from the main shuffler are in a more random order than had the cards not been pre-shuffled by the pre-shuffler.

    Abstract: Multicolored casino wagering chips are assigned temporary values and those values are transmitted to a separate device, such as a chip sorter that is used to determine chip values and value flow during a casino table game. A single color chip is temporarily associated with a chosen value for that color chip, and the value/chip relationship is provided to all systems that use that relationship in assessing game performance, wins, losses, payouts, record keeping, and security for the table game. In one embodiment of the technology described herein, a set of opposed slots on a rack is provided, with a single color of chip and an electronic marker positioned on an opposed pair of slots. The marker sends out a signal regarding the temporary value of the color chip, and that sent value is used by all automated systems on or about the gaming table to assign value to that color chip.

A playing card shuffling container for a stack of playing cards to be shuffled is arranged in the housing adjacent the storage container and is movable parallel and relative thereto between two end positions, the housing defining an input opening for feeding the playing cards to be shuffled into the shuffling container in one of the end positions thereof. The shuffling container is moved by a randomly operable drive between the end positions. A playing card ejector pushes a respective one of the playing cards to be shuffled from the shuffling container into the storage container, and a randomly operable drive operates the ejector.
