  • Patent number: 5319313
Abstract: An accelerator includes a beam tube having a cavity with a central axis along which particles can be accelerated. A radio frequency power coupling device couples the cavity to a high frequency power source. The coupling device includes a coaxial waveguide having a central axis, an outer conductor and an inner conductor. The outer conductor is fixed relative to the cavity defining an angle between the central axis of the cavity and the central axis of the coaxial waveguide. An external drive moves the inner conductor along the central axis of the coaxial waveguide.
