  • Patent number: 4398762
Abstract: A body to be picked up is provided with a bolt having a relatively narrow shaft embedded in and projecting from the body and a relatively wide head on the shaft spaced from the body. This body is picked up by a device having a shackle provided with a crosspiece defining a lift eye to which is connected a grab cable and a pivot eye. A pickup member is pivotal on the pivot eye of the shackle about a pivot axis and has a generally radially extending actuation arm and an axially elongated and outwardly open pickup slot lying generally in a plane perpendicular to the axis and having a relatively wide end permitting radial passage of the head into and out of the slot and an angularly opposite relatively narrow end internally sufficiently wide to accommodate the head but externally insufficiently wide to permit radial passage of the head out of the slot.

  • Patent number: 4394201
Abstract: A concrete plate assembly, e.g. as load carrying members or for building facades, comprises an inner concrete slab, an outer concrete slab spaced from the inner slab, and at least one main or stress-absorbing anchor embedded and interconnecting the slabs which are reinforced. The intervening space can be filled with an insulation and/or can constitute an insulating air space. According to the invention, at least one of the concrete slabs in the region of the connecting anchor, is provided with a closed reinforcing ring which lies in the plane of the slab, preferably midway of the cross section thereof, the anchor being embedded in the concrete within the reinforcing ring and preferably centrally thereof.

  • Patent number: 4296909
Abstract: In order to form in a concrete body during casting thereof a part-spherical recess around the head of a pickup bolt having a stem embedded in the body, an apparatus is employed comprising a pair of like elements each having an outer surface complementary to a respective half of the inner surface of the recess. These elements are formed with respective halves of a seat that complementarily surrounds the bolt head and the stem in the recess. A bridge is provided with a pair of pivots that define pivot axes for the respective elements, and a manipulating member is rigidly connected to this bridge.

  • Patent number: 4183186
Abstract: A multilayer steel-reinforced concrete panel assembly comprises a steel-reinforced concrete outer plate, a steel-reinforced concrete inner plate and a layer of insulation sandwiched between these plates. The outer plate and the inner plate are interconnected by flat anchors traversing the intermediate insulation layer and the anchors are distributed along an imaginary circle whose diameter is greater than the length of the small side of the rectangular panels. At least three such flat anchors are provided, two of which are capable of absorbing all of the stresses while all of the flat anchors are disposed symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal plan axis of the panel. The flat anchors take up all of the stresses to which the panel may be subject and thus eliminate the need for an additional anchor at the centroid of the panel, i.e. the center of stress forces and the like.

  • Patent number: 3996713
Abstract: A sandwich panel assembly or slab structure has a pair of steel-reinforced concrete plates generally coextensive with one another and a cushion of insulating foamed synthetic resin therebetween. A tubular anchor is located at the center (centroid) of at least a portion of the panel and is embedded in the concrete plates. At least one slightly flexible elongated auxiliary anchor plate or membrane sheet provides additional fixation of the assembly. This membrane is spaced from the tubular anchor and traverses the resin cushion and is embedded in each of the concrete plates. Metal bars extend through and from the membrane and are embedded in the concrete plates.

  • Patent number: 3982372
Abstract: A facade wall plate is provided on its back face with a steel stranded-wire loop into which is hooked the lower end of a hanger whose upper end is hooked over a similar such loop projecting from the front face of a support wall. The hanger may be a turnbuckle wherein rotation of a central sleeve shortens the distance between the hanger ends for positioning the facade, or at least one end of the hanger may be slidable along the hanger by a rotatable nut for varying the hanger length. Each such loop is formed by a continuous loop of cable imbedded in the respective facade plate or wall and looped therein around the reinforcement thereof.
