  • Patent number: 7308337
Abstract: A crane installation, especially a container crane, for moving a load, especially a container, includes a first stored-programmable control unit which, if required, receives signals resulting in a safety-related control command to one or several electric or electro-mechanical operational elements, and a second stored-programmable control unit which is configured in such a way that it can at least partially monitor the control operation of the first control unit on the basis of safety-related signals transmitted to the second control unit. If the safety-related control command of the first control unit is improper, the second control unit is able to issue its own control command to an operating element.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Ernst Sparenborg, Jorg Meyer, Uwe Meyer
  • Patent number: 7289876
Abstract: A container crane includes a movable trolley and a load-carrying frame pendantly connected to the trolley and comprised of a spreader and a head block, for transfer of a container from or to a transport vehicle. Plural optical detectors are mounted on the trolley for identifying longitudinal and transversal edges of the head block or spreader and the transport vehicle. Operatively connected to the detectors is a processing device for determining a spatial position of the edges and calculating a position of longitudinal and transversal center lines of the head block or spreader and the transport vehicle and their spatial positions in relation to one another. In this way a possible offset of the center lines of the head block or spreader with regard to those of the transport vehicle in longitudinal and transversal directions as well as a rotation angle of the center lines can be determined, whereby a detected offset or rotation angle is compensated by displacing the spreader relative to the head block.

  • Patent number: 7206662
Abstract: A crane installation, especially a container crane, includes at least one hoist mechanism provided with at least one motor for lifting and lowering a load suspended from the hoist mechanism. The operation of the hoist mechanism is controlled by a control unit which receives load-specific information signals from a device. The load-specific information signals are determined on the basis of load-dependent measuring signals generated by a load measuring assembly associated with the hoist mechanism.
