    Abstract: A support for a material being cut in an oxidation cutting operation comprising a stanchion and a tip connected to and projecting above the stanchion to contact and support a material being cut. In cross section the tip is characterized by angled sides which extend upwardly and inwardly from a base to an apex which contacts the underside of the material being cut. Such a configuration minimizes direct impingement of the oxidation stream of the cutter upon the tip and directs molten material flowing from the kerf away from the support.
