  • Patent number: 5191516
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for supporting a power switch on a wall of a switch drive housing. A power switch having an axial direction and including connecting members for connection to external electrical conductors is disposed in a switch chamber formed in a one-piece profiled strand of insulating material extending in the axial direction of the power switch with a generally unchanging cross section. The strand is mounted to the wall of the switch drive housing and includes a rear wall adjacent and parallel to, and spaced from the wall of the switch drive housing when the strand is mounted on the wall of the switch drive housing, opposing side walls connected to and oriented generally perpendicular to the rear wall, a front wall remote from the wall of the switch drive housing relative to the rear wall, parallel to the rear wall and connected to the side walls to define with the side walls and the rear wall the chamber for accommodating the power switch.

  • Patent number: 5070428
Abstract: An encapsulated and partitioned switching system employing compressed gas insulation. For each bus bar system (I, II, III) there is provided a coupling field (KFI, KFII, KFIII) in which are installed a first bus bar end section (6.sub.I, 6.sub.II, 6.sub.III), at least a first disconnect switch (2) and a coupling switch (3), while a second bus bar end section (7.sub.I, 7.sub.II, 7.sub.III) is always disposed in an adjacent coupling field (KFI, KFII).

  • Patent number: 5003427
Abstract: A metal enclosed multi-phase high voltage switching arrangement filled with compressed gas and provided with an interior protective wall between the bus bar chamber and the switch chamber. The electrical connection between the two chambers is established via gas tight passages or passthroughs arranged diagonally in the protective wall, with the passages being disposed, in one direction, at the spacing between the bus bars and, in the other perpendicular direction, at the spacing of the poles of the high voltage power or load switch in the switch chamber. Straight connections without crossovers are provided in the bus bar chamber between each bus bar and the associated passage via the respective disconnect or three-way position bus bar switch, while the connecting lines in the switch chamber from the passages to the respective poles of the high voltage switch extend in mutually parallel planes, here again without cross-overs.

  • Patent number: 4950979
Abstract: An insulating member which functions as a voltage divider in a high voltage system. The insulating member includes an insulating body having a head section and a base section. The insulating body is made of plastic containing conductive fillers to reduce the active resistance of the body. A metal fitting is embedded in the head section for connecting the head section with high voltage carrying components and for supporting such components. A further metal fitting is embedded in the base section for mechanically holding the insulating member at a grounded frame portion of a high voltage system. An electrode is disposed in the region of the further metal fitting and extends over a significant portion of the cross-sectional area of the insulating body. An electrical terminal is connected with the electrode and is insulated against grounded components of the high voltage system.

  • Patent number: 4806715
Abstract: Tensioning device for a driving spring of an energy store for an electrical switch, the device including: a drive shaft carrying a crank articulated to the driving spring; a rotatable tensioning shaft; mechanism connected for rotating the tensioning shaft; at least one overrunning clutch coupled to the drive shaft; and a transmission mechanism connected between the tensioning shaft and the drive shaft for imparting at least one unidirectional stepwise rotational advance to the drive shaft with each revolution of the tensioning shaft, wherein the tensioning shaft and the transmission shaft have respective axes of rotation which are nonparallel to one another.

  • Patent number: 4787480
Abstract: Tensioning device for the energy store of an electrical switch, the energy store including a drive spring and the switch having a turn-on lock provided with a blocking latch of the turn-on lock of the switch, the device including:a rotatable drive shaft having a crank articulated to the drive spring, the drive shaft being rotatable into an end position at which the spring is tensioned and the drive shaft is supported at the blocking latch;a rotatable tensioning shaft and a displacement-producing mechanism carried by the tensioning shaft;a directional coupling device disposed on the drive shaft and coupled to the displacement-producing mechanism for rotating the drive shaft in steps in a selected direction in repsonse to rotation of the tensioning shaft;a spring member disposed for maintaining the coupling operative engagement with the displacement-producing mechanism;a setting member associated with the drive shaft for uncoupling the directional coupling device from the displacement-producing mechanism when t

  • Patent number: 4736114
Abstract: An electrical switching system, and a method for switching this system, which is composed of two bus bars, a coupling switch which is connected between the bus bars and performs the circuit breaking and switching actions, and respective multiposition disconnect switches connected to the input and output lines or terminals. The multiposition disconnect switches are used to switch the terminals between bus bars without interruption of the current flowing through the respective terminals.
