Abstract: Syndio-rich P3HB (sr-P3HB), readily synthesized from the eight-membered meso-dimethyl diolide, has a unique set of stereomicrostructures comprising enriched syndiotactic [rr] and no isotactic [mm] triads but abundant stereo-defects randomly distributed along the chain. This sr-P3HB material is characterized by high toughness (UT=96 MJ/m3), as a result of its high elongation at break (>400%) and tensile strength (34 MPa), crystallinity (Tm=114° C.), and optical clarity (due to its sub-micron spherulites), and good barrier properties, while it still biodegrades in freshwater and soil. On the other hand, iso-rich P3HB (ir-P3HB) can be synthesized from the eight-membered rac-dimethyl diolide. While sr-P3HB exhibits excellent adhesion strength toward a variety of substrates, both sr-P3HB and ir-P3HB can substantially toughen brittle stereoperfect biological or synthetic P3HB. Both sr-P3HB and ir-P3HB can also be obtained from the four-membered rac-beta-butyrolactone with appropriate catalysts.

Abstract: Systems and methods for video georegistration are provided. An example method includes receiving an input video including a plurality of video frames; calibrating a first set of video frames selected from the plurality of video frames to generate a first set of calibrated video frames using a calibration transform; and performing one or more reference georegistrations to a second set of video frames selected from the plurality of video frames to generate a video georegistration transform using the second set of video frames. The second set of video frames have fewer video frames than the first set of video frames. The method further includes generating an output video using the calibration transform and the video georegistration transform.

Abstract: An implantable article comprising a dissolvable sponge derived from the mixture of chitosan, a first polysaccharide and a second polysaccharides. The polysaccharides have different number average molecular weight characteristics to enable the control of the mechanical features of the sponge.

Abstract: Provided is a method of estimating temperature in a device including a main printed circuit board (PCB), a protection and control module (PCM), and one or more batteries electrically connected to the PCM. The method includes sensing a temperature of the PCB, via a PCB temperature sensor and sensing a temperature of the PCM via a PCM temperature sensor. The method also includes estimating a temperature of at least one of the batteries based on (i) the temperature determined via the PCB temperature sensor and (ii) the temperature determined via the PCM temperature sensor.

Abstract: A shoe with spikes is disclosed. The shoe includes an accommodation seat, at least one moving plate, a transmission module, a plurality of posts, a plurality of spikes, and a shoe plate. The accommodation seat includes a chamber. The moving plate is disposed in the chamber and controlled to move between a first position and a second position, and includes a plurality of push members. The transmission module is configured to move the moving plate. The posts extend from the accommodation seat toward the ground. The spikes are fixed to the posts and extend out of the chamber. When the moving plate is in the first position, the spikes protrude out of the shoe plate relative to the ground. When the moving plate is moved to the second position, the push members push the shoe plate, and the spikes do not protrude out of the shoe plate.
