    Abstract: Apparatus and method for adjusting a gear in a gear train assembly. A first gear with a first rotational center and a second gear with a second rotational center are coupled to an engine. A third gear with a third rotational center is provided to form a first mesh with the first gear. The first mesh has a predetermined minimum backlash. The third gear also forms a second mesh with the second gear. The third gear includes an adjustable positioning mechanism which allows the rotational center of the third gear to be adjusted along a predetermined adjustment path that is substantially tangent to the first mesh. The adjustment mechanism of the third gear allows the minimum backlash of the first mesh to be maintained while the second mesh is adjusted to likewise achieve a generally minimized backlash.

    Abstract: A piston assembly for use in a piston cylinder of an engine is disclosed. The piston assembly includes a piston rod which connects the piston assembly to a crankshaft. The piston rod has a pin receiving opening at an upper end. A piston head having a transverse bore is connected to the piston rod. A piston pin is disposed through the pin receiving opening of the piston rod and the transverse bore of the piston head. The piston pin connects the piston head to the piston rod and has an axial bore. A piston skirt is connected to the piston head. The piston skirt has a transverse bore and an oil reservoir formed in the upper surface. At least one piston skirt pin is disposed through the piston pin axial bore and the transverse bore of the piston skirt to connect the piston skirt to the piston pin. This connects the piston skirt to the piston head. A fastening device secures the piston skirt pin in position within the piston skirt and the piston pin.

    Abstract: A high compression internal combustion engine is provided wherein corresponding ends of the cylinder liners mounted within cylinder bores formed in the engine block are secured to the cylinder head by a first set of fastening elements threaded into the corresponding ends so as to provide a seal between the head and each liner which is capable of withstanding the combustion pressures generated within each liner, when the engine is in operation. A second set of fastening elements, independent of the first set, secures the cylinder head to the engine block so as to provide a seal between complementary surfaces thereof which is capable of withstanding pressures generated by the circulating cooling medium during operation of the engine.
