  • Patent number: 5878199
Abstract: A method for electronic assembly of signatures where individual printed pages are assembled to form a signature. Contents of the printed pages to be assembled are described in a page description language. Contone Contone maps in which the printed pages are described pixel-by-pixel and line-by-line in the form of gray scale values are generated for the individual printed pages by interpretation of page descriptions in at least one interpreter. The contone maps of the individual printed pages are assembled to form an overall contone map in a raster generator such that lines of the overall contone map of the signature are composed from individual lines of the contone maps of the printed pages taking predetermined parameters into consideration. The overall contone map of the signature is converted into a screened bit map in the raster generator. The signature is recorded pixel-by-pixel and line-by-line on a recording medium based on the bit map.

  • Patent number: 4882812
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an opening roller assembly for an opening roller of an open-end spinning machine is provided. A hardened cylindrical sleeve made of a hardenable steel alloy has at least one circumferential groove formed in an outer cylindrical surface. After forming the at least one circumferential groove, the cylindrical sleeve includes a remaining wall section having a thickness no greater than 2.2 mm extending from the base of the cylindrical groove to an inner surface of the cylindrical sleeve. circumferential ribs are formed when the circumferential grooves are formed. The ribs have a base thickness of no greater than 0.7 mm. The sleeve wall radial thickness is about 0.06-0.72 times the height of the circumferential ribs. The circumferential groove base width is about 2.5 to 3.5 times the base thickness of the circumferential ribs.

  • Patent number: 4805395
Abstract: An opening assembly for an open-end spinning arrangement is provided which includes a steel alloy fitting ring element arranged on a rotatable roller body element for opening a silver into individual fibers. The fitting ring element includes a base wall having a radial thickness no greater than 2.2 mm, and includes a plurality of radially extended teeth unitary with the fitting ring element extending from the base wall. The teeth have lateral flanks formed by at least one cirumferential groove on an outer surface of the fitting ring element, and have front and back edges formed by at least two axially extending longitudinal grooves. The front and back edges have a radial height of about 0.75-0.80 times a radial height of the lateral flanks. The base wall radial thickness has a dimension of about 0.60-0.72 times the radial height of the lateral flanks. The height of the teeth is greater than the distance between the lateral flanks of axially adjacent teeth. The teeth are inclined toward a rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 4301581
Abstract: The method and apparatus relates to the production of turned workpieces on multi-station machine tools. In such machines rod stock is introduced into a clamping device (collet chuck) of the machine and is clamped thereby. A rod section is severed at a distance from the clamping device and the free end protruding from the clamping device is turned. In such a process a section from the rod stock is introduced into the clamping device, clamped fast there and severed, which section comprises a multiple of the machining length and in addition a clamping section sufficing for the clamping of one single machining length section. This multiple section is moved by sections corresponding in each case to the machining length section out of the clamping device. The rod stock is clamped fast during turning over a following machining length section in each case, the last machining length section being clamped fast by means of the provided additional clamping section.

  • Patent number: 4208779
Abstract: An automatic transfer machine having a plurality of machining units on a common table top with tool carriers above and a common drive below the table top connected through openings in the table top by distributor gears connecting the common drive with intermediate shafts, which shafts are arranged at approximately at right angles relative to the plane of the table top. Universal joint shafts which are telescopically extensible extend through each of the table top openings connecting intermediate shafts from below the table top to step down gears and control elements above the table top.

  • Patent number: 4199285
Abstract: A machining unit with a working spindle supported in a spindle housing and a saddle on which the spindle housing is removably secured and which is guided on a saddle carrier for sliding movement axially of the working spindle to cause the working spindle to be moved by feed motions, and with a drive motor secured to the saddle carrier and a transmission driven by the drive motor, the transmission having a hollow shaft in which the working spindle is guided for axial sliding movement and for rotation by the hollow shaft supported in a holder adjustable and lockable relative to the saddle carrier in two directions perpendicular to the axial direction of the working spindle.
