  • Patent number: 7594054
Abstract: A data bus interface for a control unit, in particular for a motor vehicle control unit is described, as well as a control unit, in particular a motor vehicle control unit, having a data bus interface for accessing a data bus for communicating with another control unit via the data bus. A data bus interface may be used with a particularly high degree of flexibility and be manufactured economically. The data bus interface includes two arithmetic units, in particular two microprocessors, which communicate with each other via an internal data bus; and two transceivers which are connected either to the same external data bus or to two different external data buses and are interconnected with the two arithmetic units in such a way that the two arithmetic units are connected either to the same external data bus or to the two different data buses.

  • Patent number: 5430438
Abstract: A method for functional monitoring of an electrical load, controlled by a control circuit, provides that defects in the load are detected by comparison of a signal which is used to control the load and a status signal which is passed back to the control circuit from the load. A short-circuit to ground or to the supply voltage and a cable failure can be confirmed by logical evaluation of the signals before, during and after a switching event. In this case, it is possible to differentiate between the individual defect cases.

  • Patent number: 5298865
Abstract: The invention is directed to a connecting circuit for a potential-free lambda probe having a ground line and a signal line and having an offset voltage source which is connected to the ground line. This offset voltage source raises the potential of the ground line to a pregiven value relative to ground. A ground short is directly detectable in the connecting circuit of the invention in that the potential measured at the signal line drops below the offset voltage. In this way, it is no longer required as in conventional circuits to check for a ground short by enriching the mixture of an engine and to monitor the exhaust gas with the lambda probe.

  • Patent number: 4888697
Abstract: An apparatus for resetting computing devices, particularly devices for fuel proportioning or fuel injection, for adjusting ignition timing, and the like, which are controlled by microprocessors, includes a resetting circuit to evaluate the change in the switching state of the ignition lock switch of the motor vehicle when restarted. The evaluation is effected independently of the supply voltage still at the computing device due to a self-sustaining circuit, by means of an integrated differentiation and the differentiation voltage is fed to a comparator at whose output the reset pulse is formed.

  • Patent number: 4501247
Abstract: It is proposed for a fuel metering system that a final control element be triggered with a regulated direct-current signal having clock components dependent on operating characteristics of an internal combustion engine in order to influence a fuel metering means. A further proposal is that the acceleration enrichment be triggered during starting. In this manner the desired starting enrichment is obtained by way of the sum of the post-starting, warm-up and acceleration enrichment. The acceleration enrichment per se begins beyond a predetermined air flow gradient and then has a steady course up to a maximum value. This subject is disclosed in combination with a continuously operating injection system, in which a corresponding overall control signal is prepared in a control unit and delivered to an electrohydraulic final control element.

  • Patent number: 4491113
Abstract: A current regulator is proposed for use in an electronically controlled, continuously operating gasoline injection system, with the aid of which a control element can be supplied with different current values depending upon the operating states of the engine. In addition to a current regulating phase during active operation, it is possible with the proposed current regulator to reverse the direction of current flow in the control element for the sake of blocking the supply of fuel during overrunning. Towards this end a circuit apparatus links signals relating to rpm, throttle valve position and temperature. Furthermore two safety circuit arrangements are proposed for the current regulator, so that in case of a failure of important components there is no impairment of safety, and emergency operation is assured.
