  • Publication number: 20190178067
Abstract: Examples of techniques for enhanced reservoir modeling are disclosed. In one example implementation according to aspects of the present disclosure, a computer-implemented method includes estimating, by a processing device, a plurality of reservoir fluid values. The reservoir fluid values includes a density of the fluid, a velocity of the fluid, a pressure differential of the fluid, a temperature of the fluid, a viscosity, and an absolute pressure of the fluid. The method further includes modeling, by the processing device, a mass flow rate based at least in part on the plurality of reservoir fluid values. The method further includes applying the modeled mass flow rate to a wellbore operation.

  • Publication number: 20180363406
Abstract: A downhole system includes a packer assembly including a backup ring. The backup ring includes a plurality of nested leaves nested sequentially in a circumferential direction with adjacent circumferentially positioned leaves to collectively form a substantially circular shape. Each leaf includes a receiving section and an insertion section, the receiving section receiving an insertion section of an adjacent leaf. Upon radial expansion of the backup ring, the plurality of nested leaves fan out in the circumferential direction.

  • Publication number: 20180274340
Abstract: A screen connection area assembly configured to mount between adjacent sand screens of a gravel pack string including a body attachable to a screen connection area between two adjacent sand screens of the gravel pack string, the body configured to displace fluid and present a radial dimension between about 75% and 100% of a radial dimension of the adjacent sand screens. A method for packing a gravel pack string including disposing an assembly as in any prior embodiment on a screen connection area between adjacent sand screens of the string, running the string into a borehole, supplying a slurry to the borehole proximate the sand screens, packing the sand screens and the screen connection area between adjacent sand screens without altering a flow regime of the slurry.

  • Publication number: 20170370183
Abstract: An electro-hydraulic actuator includes a housing having an interior portion a first opening and a second opening, a transducer is arranged in the interior portion. The transducer includes a sensor operatively coupled to a signal source at the first opening. A selectively activatable valve component is arranged at the second opening. The selectively activatable valve component maintains a desired pressure in the interior portion of the housing. An actuator is operatively coupled to the transducer and operable to activate the selectively activatable valve component exposing the interior portion to a volume of fluid in response to a signal from the transducer to activate a downhole system.

  • Patent number: 9580992
Abstract: A sealing device is used in a flow control apparatus, the sealing device including a static seal and a protective seal or fluid restriction. The protective seal is formed between two members formed from resilient materials being substantially resistant to wear or failure when exposed to large pressure differentials and associated jetting action. The static seal is formed using a sealing element that includes a material that is at least partially deformable, such as an elastomer or the like. The protective seal is engaged prior to engaging or disengaging the static seal in order to prevent damage to the deformable material of the static seal.

  • Patent number: 9470062
Abstract: A downhole tool for use in a wellbore and that is attached to a perforating string that creates perforations in a portion of the wellbore. Where the downhole tool can selectively flow fluid from the perforating string to surface, or circulate flow from surface to an annular space between the tool and a wellbore wall. The tool includes pressure actuated valves that provide the flow diverting functionality. The valves are in cooperation with one another to prevent fluid from the portion of the wellbore having the perforations from flowing into the annular space. A pressure actuated selector assembly, which is made up of a piston and specially configured mandrels that are coaxially stacked, selectively moves separate mandrels in an axial direction for opening and closing the valves.

  • Patent number: 8851160
Abstract: Perforation guns comprise a firing head to activate an initiator which, in turn, causes detonation of perforation charges. The firing head comprises a firing pin in sliding engagement with a bore of a housing. An opening in the housing places the firing pin in fluid communication with a wellbore annulus when the perforation gun is disposed in the wellbore. A release mechanism maintains the firing pin in it is initial position. Upon being disposed in the desired location within the wellbore, the release mechanism is actuated allowing the firing pin to move within the bore. Hydrostatic pressure acts on the firing pin in a first direction that is determined by a bias provided by one end of the firing pin providing greater resistance to movement as compared to the other end. Movement of the firing pin causes the firing pin to strike the initiator causing detonation of the perforation charges.
