  • Patent number: 7010301
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system are provided for hand-off of a communication session utilizing ISDN multiway capabilities, in which the communication session of a mobile unit on a first call path is transferred from a serving base station to a target base station. The preferred system includes a switch coupled to a serving base station and a target base station, wherein the serving base station includes instructions to request a second call path to the target base station and to request a multiway feature. The switch then establishes the second call path from the serving base station to the target base station via the switch, and combines the communication session of the first call path with the second call path to form a multiway communication session.

  • Patent number: 6801773
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system are provided for hand-off of a communication session in a mobile wireless communication system, from the serving base station to a target base station, utilizing a shared directory number associated with a first terminal of the serving base station which is providing the communication session with the mobile unit through a first call path. The serving base station includes a second terminal having the shared directory number associated with the first terminal. A switch, coupled to the serving base station and to the target base station, is configured, upon reception of a message from the serving base station, to establish a second call path from the second terminal of the serving base station to the target base station, and to bridge the second call path with the communication session of the first call path to form a multiway communication session, with the multiway communication session including a bridged call path to the target base station.

  • Patent number: 6799040
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system are provided for hand-off of a communication session from a serving base station to a target base station. The preferred system includes a switch coupled to the serving base station and to the target base station. Respective first and second terminals at the serving and target base station share the same directory number, with the first terminal of the serving base station providing the communication session with the mobile unit. For a hand-off, the target base station transmits a request designating the shared directory number to the switch. Upon reception of the request, the switch bridges the target base station, through a bridged call path, into the communication session, through a second terminal of the target base station having the shared directory number, to form a three-way communication session.

  • Patent number: 6501952
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system are provided for hand-off of a communication session utilizing directed call pick up with barge-in, in which the communication session of a mobile unit is transferred from a serving base station to a target base station. The preferred system includes a switch coupled to a serving base station and. a target base station, wherein the target base station includes instructions to generate a barge-in call path to a switch. The switch includes instructions to connect the barge-in call path to the communication session of the mobile unit to form a reverse three-way communication session. Following a provision for the mobile unit to communicate with the target base station for continuation of the communication session through the barge-in call path, the serving base station disconnects from the communication session. The barge-in call path.

  • Patent number: 5937035
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring stations from a monitoring terminal wherein at least one of the monitored stations is served by a different switch than that serving the monitoring station. Changes of status are reported by a monitored station to the switch serving the monitored station and, if that switch is not the switch serving the monitoring station, the switch serving the monitored station transmits a common channel signaling (CCS) signaling system 7 (SS7) message to the switch serving the monitoring terminal. Advantageously, this permits an attendant at the monitoring terminal to serve users not connected to the switch serving the monitoring terminal.
