  • Publication number: 20130217329
Abstract: A method and a system for communicating personal health data in a Near Field Communication (NFC) environment are provided. An NFC manager sets control information in an NFC Data Exchange Format (NDEF) for providing synchronized communication of personal health data between the NFC manager and an NFC agent. The control information may include a direction flag, a state flag, sequence identifier field, and request/response flag. The NFC manager writes the NDEF format including the control information and payload data into an NFC tag associated with the NFC agent. Subsequently, the NFC manager reads the NDEF record stored in the NFC tag and determines whether the NDEF record is written into the NFC tag by the NFC agent based on the control information in the read NDEF format. Accordingly, the NFC manager repeats the above mentioned steps if the NDEF record includes payload data of the NFC agent.

  • Publication number: 20130214744
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for displaying a strength of power and an expected charge completion time during wireless charging. To this end, a first electronic device, upon receiving a power request message, converts stored or wirelessly supplied power into a wirelessly-transmittable form and transmits the converted power. A second electronic device, upon receiving a charging command, determines whether being located in a distance and a position which allow charging with the first electronic device, transmits the power request message to the first electronic device, receives the converted power from the first electronic device to measure the strength of the received power, and calculates an expected charge completion time by using the detected strength of power, if the second electronic device is located in the distance and position which allow charging.

  • Patent number: 8380081
Abstract: A method and apparatus for allocating resources of a Visible Light Communication (VLC) terminal in a VLC system. The VLC terminal receives a beacon message from a base station, coordinates time synchronization with the base station, searches for an available wavelength channel, constructs available wavelength channel information, and transmits an initial access request using a basic time slot channel and a basic wavelength channel. The base station considers the available wavelength channel information and a current channel allocation condition, allocates an appropriate channel, and transmits channel allocation information to the VLC terminal. The VLC terminal and the base station communicate data with each other using an allocated time slot channel included in the channel allocation information and an allocated wavelength channel included in the channel allocation information.

  • Publication number: 20130027423
Abstract: A method provides additional information from a server to a visible light communication terminal through visible light communication in an information display device having a Light Emitting Diode (LED) backlight unit. To this end, if content data regarding an image output through a screen of an information display device is provided from a server, it is determined whether additional information regarding an object of the image is included in the content data, and if so, the additional information is acquired from the content data. The information display device controls light emission of an LED backlight unit of a display unit based on the additional information, thus performing visible light communication. As such, various additional information regarding an object of an image displayed at a particular position of a current screen of the information display device can be provided to a visible light communication terminal.
