Accordingly, various services can be provided based on the personal information.

When a contact by a user is detected at the tactile sensor unit, a control unit may receive a contact detection signal therefrom. The GUI may be displayed and modified depending on the location and pressure of contacts by a user's manipulating fingers. Therefore, a user can manipulate the apparatus without any inconvenience or accidental touches.

When an optical pointer irradiates light rays with a specific pattern, photo sensors disposed in a display unit of the device detect the irradiated light rays. The device executes or controls a function according to the pattern information and a function table, which maps the pattern information to the function.

The method of providing a search service selects a partial region of a screen if a user's specified operation is input, extracts a plurality of keywords using the selected region, displays a list of the plurality of keywords, and searches for information based on one of the plurality of keywords. Accordingly, the display device can receive the keyword through the selection of the region. Accordingly, a user can input a desired search keyword through an input of only an operation for selecting the region.

Abstract: A search service providing method and a display apparatus applying the same are provided. In response to a user selecting a particular item of search result items displayed in a second region, the search service providing method displays the selected search result item in a third region so that the user can display and temporary store his/her intended search result in a separate region. Thus, the user can select and access the temporarily stored search result items displayed in the third region, without having to search previous sites repeatedly.
