  • Patent number: 7208532
Abstract: A method for the production of a cross-linked support matrix that in form of a bed will permit liquid flow velocities above 5 cm/h, preferably above 50 cm/h, to pass through the bed. The method is characterized in that it comprises the steps: (a) providing a starting support matrix that has pendent unsaturated groups, and (b) subjecting said starting support matrix to electron beam or gamma-ray irradiation. The use of a cross-linked support matrix produced by a method comprising the steps of: (a) providing a starting support matrix that has pendent unsaturated groups, and (b) subjecting said starting support matrix to electron beam or gamma-ray irradiation as a support matrix in liquid chromatography, cell culturing, step-wise solid phase synthesis of organic compounds, running catalytic reactions by the use of a solid phase bound catalyst.

  • Patent number: 6290853
Abstract: A chromatographic method and device for separating one or several organic substances in a liquid sample. According to the method said sample of substances is passed through a chromatographic device containing as separation medium at least one continuous macroporous matrix. The macroporous matrix comprises a cross-linked organic polymer prepared by polymerization of a high internal phase emulsion system of a water-in-oil emulsion of organic monomers, said emulsion containing at least 75% by weight of water phase. The polymerization results in an open porous structure, to allow a convective flow to pass through the macroporous matrix, whereby said organic substances separate from each other and/or the liquid. The pores of the macroporous matrix are unmodified, or surface modified in a manner that the convective flow is not hampered.

  • Patent number: 6143853
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a separation media based on adsorption comprising a polyvinyl ether having different or identical vinyl ether subunits, and towards an insoluble polyvinyl ether comprising free terminal valencies, side hydrogen or methyl groups, as well as plurality of hydrophillic organic groups, wherein hydrogen is replaced by organic residues having affinity to bioorganic molecules.

  • Patent number: 5759404
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a separation method comprising the steps: (i) contacting an aqueous liquid that contains a dissolved substance that is to be enriched with a polymer under conditions allowing selective partition of said substance to said polymer, whereafter (ii) said polymer containing said substance is removed from said aqueous liquid. The polymer employed is a poly(vinyl ether) having different or identical vinyl ether subunits (1) where X et Y are selected among hydrogen and methyl; and R is selected among organic groups. A plurality of R are equal to a hydrophilic organic group. One or more R comprise a bioaffinity ligand; an ion exchange group, etc. The method may be applied to bioseparations such as gel, affinity, ion exchange and covalent chromatography and corresponding batch procedures. Also disclosed are vinyl ether polymers that can be employed in the method.
