  • Patent number: 8460761
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the reduction of the formaldehyde emission of wood-base materials by application of nitrogen-containing compounds, wherein (i) a mixture which comprises at least one polyamine and, if appropriate, up to 20% by weight, based on the mixture, of urea is applied to the wood-base material; (ii) polyamine is applied on or in the particle or fiber cake; (iii) polyamine is applied to the coating substrate used for surface finishing and/or (iv) polyamine is applied to the exposed areas; the polyamines having a molecular weight of at least 500 g/mol and at least 6 primary or secondary amino groups.

  • Publication number: 20110028603
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of hyperbranched polymers or oligomers comprising terminal primary and/or secondary amino groups as curing agents for epoxy resins. The invention further relates to a composition containing such polymers or oligomers, an uncured or only partially cured epoxy resin, and at least one optional curing agent for epoxy resins, as well as a cured epoxy resin that can be obtained by curing said components. The invention finally relates to a method for curing epoxy resins. In said method, an uncured or only partially cured epoxy resin is brought to a temperature of 5 to 150° C. or is exposed to microwave radiation along with at least one polymer or oligomer according to the definition above and at least one optional conventional curing agent for epoxy resins.

  • Publication number: 20100280185
Abstract: A process for preparing highly branched melamine polymers, wherein melamine is reacted with 1.5 to 4 mol, per mole of melamine, of one or more diamines or polyamines having at least two primary amino groups, it being possible for up to 25 mol % of the diamines or polyamines to have three or more primary amino groups and for up to 50 mol % of the diamines or polyamines to be replaced by amines having only one primary amino group, in the presence of an acidic catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20100022679
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of wood-base materials for the production of furniture parts, wall claddings, insulation materials and the like for reducing the formaldehyde content in the ambient air, the wood-base materials (iii) comprising polyamine as a binder or (iv) comprising a binder differing from polyamine and additionally having polyamine in or on the outer layers of the wood-base material and the polyamine having a molecular weight of at least 500 g/mol and at least 6 primary or secondary amino groups.
