  • Patent number: 6305111
Abstract: An advertising display for mounting an advertisement on a supporting structure such as a billboard, the side of truck, or any other substantially planar surface. The advertising display includes an elastic display panel with four edges reinforced by elongate stays. A plurality of upper attachment fittings are spaced lengthwise along the top of the supporting structure. A corresponding plurality of lower attachment fittings are spaced lengthwise along the bottom of the supporting structure. Opposing forward and rear attachment fittings are spaced vertically along the supporting structure. A plurality of retaining clips are also provided each for attachment to the outer lips of the lower attachment fitting as well as the forward and rear attachment fittings for the purpose of retaining the edges of the stays therein, thereby holding the stays captive. The display panel can be tautly suspended over the surface of the supporting structure between the four attachment fittings.

  • Patent number: 5239765
Abstract: A low-profile, light-weight advertising display is provided for exhibiting advertisements on trucks, billboards and the like. The advertising display is provided with a self-tensioned display panel which resists sagging and wrinkling by virtue of its own elasticity, and a display panel mounting which allows convenient installation and removal.

  • Patent number: 4890751
Abstract: A deployment/retrieval system for a towed body which includes first and second arms, one of which is rotatable relative to the other about an axle disposed beneath the longitudinal axes of the arms. A winch-wound cable passes through both of the arms as well as around a sheave which also rotates about the axle. Prior to deployment or after retrieval of the towed body the arms are in a horizontal position while during deployment or a retrieval one arm is in a vertical position. When in the vertical position, a complementary mating arrangement on the towed body ensures for a positive engagement with the arm so as to prevent excessive movement of the towed body when captured. In order to reduce tension on the cable for irregular movements of the towing body, one arm assembly is affixed in a bearing arrangement so as to allow rotation about its longitudinal axes.

  • Patent number: 4598882
Abstract: A towed body deployment/retrieval system which includes first and second hollow arms for passage of a cable from a winch to the towed body. The adjacent ends of the arms include forked fittings which are in cooperative engagement with a slip boundary sheave having, in a peripheral channel thereof, an endless belt slidable in the channel and having a groove which receives the cable. The arms are movable relative to the slip boundary sheave over a limited distance during normal usage. The slip boundary sheave rotates about an effective center located outside of its contour and accordingly is much smaller and can fit into a smaller space than an equivalent circular sheave which would normally be required for the same diameter towing cable.

  • Patent number: 4303902
Abstract: A coaxial inductive coupler having an inner magnetic core member and a surrounding outer magnetic core member each having respective windings. The inner magnetic core is operatively carried by an inner support assembly which is additionally connected to an outer protective shell. The outer core is disposed within a cylinder having at the end thereof a large guide member for facilitating insertion into the outer protective shell. A locking mechanism is provided to insure positive coupling and easy release.

  • Patent number: 3969977
Abstract: A method of and means for installing weapons and associated launch gear or ther equipment in positions external to a submarine pressure or other vessel hull are provided. The lateral outer cross section of the submarine preferably is divided into quadrants and a replenishible weapon or equipment cartridge or module is lowered into each individual quadrant. Each module preferably contains a plurality of payloads, and after all of the payloads have been expended the expired module is easily removed and replaced by a loaded one.
