Abstract: A method of developing a protected software application comprises identifying segments of the application to be protected and compiling those segments according to a protected instruction set. The protected segments are then linked together with the unprotected segments for distribution. The protected segments can only be executed using a trusted module connected to a computing device. The trusted module comprises a virtual machine programmed with an instruction set corresponding to the set of instructions used to compile the protected segments. Using the trusted module, the state vector of the process of execution is monitored to insure integrity of the process. Various encryption and technological security measure may also be used.
