  • Publication number: 20130259659
Abstract: A seal for a gas turbine engine and a gas turbine engine employing such a seal are disclosed. More specifically, the engine includes a knife edge seal which is better able to withstand the extremely high temperatures and mechanical loads to which gas turbine engine components are increasingly subjected. By moving the knife edge seal to the aft hub and cantilevering its angle off of vertical, thermal and mechanical loads are balanced and thus thermal mechanical fatigue life is improved while low cycle fatigue is maintained.

  • Patent number: 6182467
Abstract: A portion of the condensed liquid in a condenser is diverted to a generator where it supplies heat to boil off refrigerant from a refrigerant oil mixture and is thereby subcooled. The subcooled liquid is supplied to the motor for cooling. The boiling off of refrigerant in the generator results in an “oil rich” liquid which is supplied to the bearings, etc. for lubrication. One, or more, jet or ejector pumps are preferably used to supply the oil rich liquid to the lubrication distribution system.

  • Patent number: 5476373
Abstract: Lubricant is pumped into a lubrication system by an oil pump. Preferably the lubricant is drawn into the pump from an unagitated source. An eccentric pump rotor is received on the crankshaft and has a circumferentially extending recess. A radially extending drive pin is secured in the crankshaft and coacts with the ends of the recess to position the rotor in accordance with the direction of rotation of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5421368
Abstract: The profile of the valve stop of a discharge valve is configured such that the portion facing the free length of the valve member has a first fixed radius portion and a second, larger fixed radius portion. The valve has a leg portion and a valve head with said leg portion tapering and widening in the direction of the valve head so as to have an increasing spring rate.
