Abstract: Described are systems for beds that can include sensors for sensing physical phenomena in an environment surrounding a bed, a display for outputting information about the environment, the bed, and a sleeper, and a controller communicably coupled to the sensors. The controller can receive the sensed physical phenomena from the sensors, analyze the physical phenomena to determine at least one of environmental, sleep, and health metrics of a sleeper in the bed, and determine, based on at least one of the environmental, sleep, and health metrics of the sleeper, control signals to modify the environment surrounding the bed. The controller can also output, at the display, the environmental, sleep, and health metrics of the sleeper. The controller can also transmit the control signals to a second controller in order to engage a home automation device. The physical phenomena can include ambient sound, ambient light, ambient CO2 concentration, and/or ambient temperature.

Abstract: A bed has a mattress. A sensor senses cardiac activity of a user of the bed and sends, to computing hardware, data messages recording the sensed cardiac activity of the user. Computing hardware performs operations that include receiving the data messages from the sensor; determining, from the data messages, a heart-rate variability metric for the user at a plurality of time-points in a plurality of single sleep session; calculating, for a given sleep session using the heart-rate variability metric for the user for the given sleep session, a recovery-metric that reflects the degree of cardiac restoration that the sleep session has provided to the user; and displaying the recovery-metric in a user interface.

This subject matter is context-searched to derive search terms to access information relevant to the subject matter, generally from a remote location. Selections made from accessed information are made. The selections are the basis from which choices are constructed to present to a user via, e.g., a graphical user interface (GUI). The user may interact with the GUI to make a selection. Selections may include accessing a URL for information related to the subject matter or accessing an e-commerce site that offers goods related to the subject matter. The GUI facilitates further interaction in order to allow the user to select further options which are dependent from the initial selection.

Abstract: Various methods and systems for detecting whether a network device supports a protocol, which defines a supplemental header, are disclosed. One method involves detecting a value within a preamble generated by a sending device and verifying that a header format of a header, also generated by the sending device, conforms to a header format definition of a protocol. The header format definition of the protocol defines a supplemental header. The preamble can be an Ethernet preamble. In one embodiment, the preamble is a converged data link (CDL) preamble or other type of preamble that is used to convey operation, administration and management (OAM) information.

According to one embodiment of the present invention, a control processor configured to support a plurality of virtual interfaces is provided, wherein each of the plurality of virtual interfaces is associated with a quality of service level. According to another embodiment, each quality of service level is associated with a processing bandwidth of the control processor. Abstract: A virtual network device sub-unit includes an interface to a virtual network device link and a distributed forwarding module. The interface receives a packet, and the distributed forwarding module forwards the packet received by the interface. The distributed forwarding module performs an ingress lookup if the packet includes a multicast destination address and an egress lookup if the packet includes a unicast destination address. If the packet includes a multicast destination address, the distributed forwarding module replicates the packet for each of several outgoing VLANs associated with the multicast destination address. If an additional multicast packet is received via an interface that is not coupled to a virtual network device link, the distributed forwarding module sends at most one copy of the additional multicast packet via the virtual network device link.
