    Abstract: Optoelectronic structures and methods of formation are described. In an embodiment, an optoelectronic structure includes a backplane with a driving circuitry and an array of contact pads, and a device layer bonded to the backplane. The device layer may include an array of micro-sized diodes and landing pads, and a reconstituted wiring layer including an array of via contacts connected to the array of landing pads. The reconstituted wiring layer can be directly bonded with the array of contacts with metal-metal bonds. A placement distribution of the array of landing can be decoupled from a position distribution of the array of via contacts.

    Abstract: An electronic device may provide image light to an eye box. The display may include a light source panel that emits the image light. A waveguide may direct the image light towards the eye box. An input coupler may couple the image light into the waveguide and an output coupler may couple the image light out of the waveguide. A color filter may be optically interposed between the light source panel and the output coupler. The color filter may filter the image light using a steep cutoff characteristic. The color filter may allow the image light to exhibit a desired color point while also allowing the light source panel to use light emitters having peak emission wavelengths that maximize the efficiency of the light emitters and thus the power efficiency of the device.

In an integrated multi-color micro-LED display panel, arrays of different color micro LEDs are integrated with corresponding driver circuitry. Some colors of micro LEDs are inorganic micro LEDs, and other colors are organic micro LEDs. Inorganic versus organic can be selected on the basis of efficiency, for example using inorganic micro LEDs for blue pixels and organic micro LEDs for red and green pixels. In one approach, an array of pixel drivers is first fabricated on a supporting substrate. Multiple strata of micro LEDs are then stacked on top of the base substrate. The strata containing inorganic micro LEDs are fabricated first, with one color per stratum. A single stratum containing all of the organic micro LEDs is then fabricated at the top of the stack.

The multi-color array light source also includes a controller that is electrically coupled to and that drives the arrays of micro-LEDs.     Abstract: Mass transfer of micro structures are effected from one substrate to another using adhesives. In the context of an integrated micro LED display, a micro LED array is fabricated on a native substrate and corresponding CMOS pixel drivers are fabricated on a separate substrate. The micro LED substrate (e.g., sapphire) and the CMOS substrate (e.g., silicon) may be incompatible. For example, they may have different thermal coefficients of expansion which make it difficult to bond the micro LEDs to the pixel driver circuitry. The micro LED array is transferred to an intermediate substrate (e.g., silicon) by use of an adhesive. This intermediate substrate may be used in a process of bonding the micro LED array to the array of pixel drivers. The intermediate substrate is separated from the micro LED array by releasing the adhesive.

    Abstract: A display panel with integrated micro-reflectors. The display panel also includes an array of pixel light sources (e.g., micro-LEDs) electrically coupled to corresponding pixel driver circuits (e.g., FETs). The micro-LEDs produce light and the micro-reflectors reduce the divergence of the light produced by the micro-LEDs. Different designs are possible. The micro-reflectors can have different shapes, include the shape of their sidewalls and the shape of their plan cross-section. The array schemes can also vary, including the number of LEDs per micro-reflector. Different fabrication approaches are also possible. In one approach, a support structure is integrated between micro-LEDs. The sides of the support structure are reflective and serve as the reflective sidewalls of the micro-reflector. Alternately, the LED mesa itself can serve as the support structure.
