Patent number: 10340688Abstract: A modular overvoltage protection unit for electrically connecting a first power line and/or a second power line to a protected earth (PE) line in the case of an overvoltage event on the first or second power line includes a unit enclosure defining an enclosure cavity, and first and second surge protection devices (SPDs) each disposed in the enclosure cavity. Each of the first and second SPDs includes: a first electrode in the form of a metal housing defining a housing cavity; a second electrode disposed within the housing cavity; and a varistor member captured between and electrically connected with each of the first and second electrodes, wherein the varistor member is formed of a varistor material.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2018Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignee: RIPD IP ASSETS LTDInventors: Thomas Tsovilis, Eva Giannelaki, Fani Asimakopoulou, Konstantinos Bakatsias, Zafiris G. Patent number: 9640986Abstract: A telecommunications system uses a breakout device to connect a primary power cable to different secondary power cables that connect to different remote radio units (RRUs). For example, the breakout device may include a power distribution terminal that connects ?48 VDC and return power lines in the primary power cable to different ?48 VDC and return power lines in the secondary power cables. In another example, the breakout device may connect a hybrid cable that includes both power lines and fiber optic lines. A surge protection system may be located in the breakout device to protect the RRUs and other electrical device from power surges. Alternatively, the surge protection system may be located in jumper power cables connected between the breakout device and the RRUs.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2013Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: RAYCAP INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LTD.Inventors: Zafiris Politis, Fani Asimakopoulou, Kostas Bakatsias, Charis Coletti

Patent number: 9575277Abstract: A breakout assembly includes a housing including a first end and a second end. A retaining member includes a first end configured to receive a fiber optic cable and a second end attaching to the first end of the housing and retaining exposed stripped layers of the fiber optic cable. A breakout head is configured to insert into the second end of the housing and includes holes for receiving furcation tubes. A nut holds the breakout head inside of the second end of the housing. Different optical fibers from the fiber optic cable are inserted into the furcation tubes and held by the breakout head. An outside surface of the breakout head and an inside surface of the second end of the housing have round side surfaces extending between flat top and bottom surfaces that prevent the breakout head from rotating within the housing.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 2015Date of Patent: February 21, 2017Assignee: Raycap, S.A.Inventors: Konstantinos Bakatsias, Charis Coletti, Fani Asimakopoulou
