  • Patent number: 9799187
Abstract: The present invention relates to apparatus and methods for warning a user about undesirable motion of a first portion of the user's body relative to a second portion of the user's body. In one representative embodiment, an apparatus for warning a user about motion of a first portion of the user's body relative to a second portion of the user's body comprises at least one sensor configured to measure the angle of the first portion of the user's body relative to a reference. The sensor is configured to be worn on the user's body, and is in communication with a controller. A warning mechanism is also in communication with the controller, and the controller is operable to activate the warning mechanism upon movement of the first portion of the user's body relative to the second portion of the user's body beyond a predetermined angle relative to the reference.

  • Patent number: 9254216
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for limiting the range of motion of a first portion of the body of a user relative to a second portion of the user's body. A body attachable device is secured to the first and second portion of the user's body. At least one elongated member extends between the first and second portions of the user's body for moving longitudinally as the user's body moves. A range of motion limiter restrains further longitudinal movement of the elongated member at the desired terminal end of the range of motion by receiving an adjustable stop secured to the elongated member. A stop adjustment enables the stop to be moved positionally to an adjusted position, whereby the terminal end of a range of motion can be adjusted by the user.

  • Publication number: 20120015781
Abstract: An apparatus for training a shooter includes a mock weapon (handgun or rifle) which is composed of a material intended to make it heavier than a normal weapon for strength training and includes sights so that the user can train his or her eyes and in order to strengthen the muscles used during manipulation and use of a weapon without fatigue and with less tremor. This apparatus may also include a hinge mechanism for improving the user's ability to squeeze the trigger without imparting an angular force that could otherwise diminish accuracy.

  • Patent number: 6852067
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for preventing and/or treating carpal tunnel syndrome are disclosed. One such apparatus comprises a splint for wearing on a portion of an upper extremity of an individual, a warning mechanism carried by the splint and a switch mechanism carried by the splint and electrically coupled to the warning mechanism. The switch mechanism is operable to activate the warning mechanism upon extension or flexion of the hand beyond a predetermined range of motion and thereby alert the user of such undesirable motion of the hand.

  • Publication number: 20040092958
Abstract: A stereotactic surgical device includes at least two light guides adapted to converge light to a predetermined extent at a predetermined distance from a predetermined location on the surgical device. The surgical device may further include a light detector and a processor to receive image information from the light detector. Logic of the surgical device is applied to the processor to cause the processor to determine when the light has converged to the predetermined extent and to provide a signal thereupon.
