    Abstract: Simulated noise is applied to an image in a first color space, which is transformed into noisy image data in a second color space that includes a luminance and a chrominance channel. The color transformation is generated to reduce the noise in the luminance channel. In one aspect, the color transformation is incorporated into a color imaging system, and the simulated noise is representative of the noise produced by the color imaging system. In another aspect, the first color space is an RGB color space and the second color space is a YCbCr color space.
