  • Patent number: 10392527
Abstract: Barrier coatings with efficacy against oxygen and nuisance substances are described that comprise lower molecular weight PVOH and EVOH co-polymers, when coated on flexible substrates. Coating formulations comprising these co-polymers advantageously tolerate moderate to higher proportions of organic solvents in aqueous blends, and thus produce faster drying coating formulations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 26, 2014
Date of Patent: August 27, 2019
    Assignee: SUN CHEMICAL CORPORATION
Inventors: Asad Khan, Safraz Khan, Michael Leonard, Farid Azizian

  • Patent number: 8629081
Abstract: By printing a bar code (comprising dark and light regions) or parts of such a bar code with an ink containing a dye, which changes color in the presence of an acid or a base to remove the contrast between the regions of the bar code, and a neutral compound which releases an acid or a base on exposure to energising radiation, a bar code can be produced that becomes unreadable after a pre-determined interval. This can be used as a time/temperature indicator to ensure that products, which might be perishable, associated with such a bar code are not used by the public.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 14, 2006
Date of Patent: January 14, 2014
    Assignee: Sun Chemical Corporation

  • Patent number: 6599429
Abstract: A water treatment product which is a particulate material having a specific surface area of at least 1.0 m2/g, or an artefact formed by bonding together such particulate material, and having an insoluble ferric iron coating. Perferably, the particulate material is an alumina-based material. The product is useful in the treatment of water to remove organic materials, cations or anions, and more particularly heavy metals, As, Se or F. Methods of making the water product are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5858900
Abstract: A composition suitable for admixture with refractory grains to make a refractory monolithic formulation, consisting essentially of:2 to 10 parts by weight of activated alumina;0.25 to 1.0 parts by weight of an additive material which comprises at least one of an alumino-silicate-phosphate compound; a resin derived from an aldehyde and either an amine or an aromatic hydroxy compound; cellulose; polyethylene glycol(s); and methoxy polyethylene glycols;0 to 50 parts by weight of fine alumina;0 to 10 parts by weight of fine silica;0 to 1 parts by weight of a dispersant; and0 to 1 part by weight calcium aluminate cement.

  • Patent number: 5190909
Abstract: Pressure- or heat-sensitive record material utilizes a chromogenic material of the formula (I) (Ia or Ib): ##STR1## in which: one of A.sub.1 and A.sub.3 is an optionally-substituted carbocyclic aryl group and the other of A.sub.1 and A.sub.3 is either an optionally-substituted aryl group which is the same as or different from A.sub.1, or an optionally-substituted nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic group, with the proviso that if both A.sub.1 and A.sub.3 are aryl groups, then at least one of A.sub.1 and A.sub.3 has a substituted amino or -N-heterocyclic substituent in the 4- position (relative to the bond joining A.sub.1 or A.sub.3 respectively to the remainder of the molecule);A.sub.2 is hydrogen or an optionally-substituted aryl, alkyl or aralkyl group; andA.sub.4 is hydrogen or an optionally-substituted alkyl, aryl or aralkyl group.

Inventors: Kenneth J. Shanton, Farid Azizian
  • Patent number: 4587538
Abstract: Pressure sensitive record material uses a 2,3-disubstituted-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazolin-4-ones of the formula (I): ##STR1## where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have defined meanings, as color formers. Preferred compounds of formula (I) are intense fade resistant and stable yellow color formers useful in making black copy formulations.
