Abstract: A method for performing a lookup to support forwarding of IP packets in a router comprising a network processor and a route processor is disclosed. The method includes receiving a packet having an IP address containing a network prefix and dividing available network prefixes into groups. The longest prefix is identified and a lookup is performed using hash tables. The packet is forwarded if a match is found.

Abstract: A lock controller supports both blocking and non-blocking lock requests issued by processors of a processing engine when attempting to access a shared resource of an intermediate network device. The non-blocking lock controller capability provides a processor with the flexibility to obtain other shared resources if the originally requested resource is not available. The blocking capability of the lock controller guarantees that each processor will eventually obtain the requested resource. By supporting both blocking and non-blocking capabilities, the lock controller provides increased flexibility and performance to the processors of the processing engine.

Abstract: A jewelry class includes a frame defining a receptacle adapted to receive a length of chain and means for engaging a selected link of the chain and preventing substantial longitudinal motion of the chain within the receptacle. The jewelry clasp further includes a means for retaining the selected link of the chain in engagement with the means for engaging.

Abstract: A user customizable pendant that includes a frame with a hole, a transparent front window, and a back member, which may or may not also be transparent. The front window and back member couple to the frame to form a vessel with an inner cavity. The pendant includes a funnel coupled to the frame, with a hole at the bottom that provides access to the inner cavity ofthe pendant. The user customizes the pendant by placing real or simulated birthstones, other simulated stones, charms, or other small objects into the inner cavity through the funnel such that they are visible through the front window. In one embodiment, the funnel includes two aligned, transverse holes, through which a necklace, bracelet, chain, cord, ribbon, or other structure can be threaded that captures the objects inside the pendant. In another embodiment, the funnel is located at the side, and the pendant may or may not include a plug capable of being removably coupled to the funnel to block the bottom hole.
