  • Publication number: 20100110026
Abstract: The invention is a signal processing method for a tactile sensor, said tactile sensor having a tactile surface and elementary sensors (10) being suitable for three dimensional force sensing and being arranged along the tactile surface, wherein sensing is carried out by reading signals of the elementary sensors (10). For each elementary sensor (10), force components (Tx, Ty, Sn) measured along three spatial axes normal to each other are determined, three force maps are generated from the respective force components (Tx, Ty, Sn) along the same axis, the three force maps are evaluated, and then the results of the three evaluations are jointly evaluated. The invention also relates to a tactile sensor having a tactile surface and elementary sensors (10) suitable for three dimensional force sensing and arranged along the tactile surface. The inventive tactile sensor comprises sensor units consisting of four elementary sensors (10) arranged in the corner points of a square.

  • Patent number: 6245025
Abstract: Method and apparatus for long-term, non-invasive measuring of fetal heart rate. The method utilizes the characteristic curves of first and second heart sound received by the preferred electroacoustical converter. The identification and distinction of first and second sounds, furthermore their time relation used for heartbeat identification highly increase the reliability of fetal heart rate determination. The distinction of first and second sound is based on the differences in frequency spectrums measured in a relatively short time window and by the estimation of the power peaks measured on two test frequencies chosen on the two ends of the frequency range of fetal heart sound. The method is implemented in an integrated apparatus to achieve low power consumption for battery-operated long-term measurements. Digital filtering and selective power estimation is applied for continuous computation of power time function on the two test frequencies.

  • Patent number: 5125653
Abstract: A new ball throwing machine for ejecting tennis balls comprising an adjustable ball throwing mechanism, a microcomputer controlling the throwing mechanism for programmed stroke sequences, and a remote control unit attached to the microcomputer and having a touch pad keyboard for direct assignment of impact points of the balls and for command selection and, for balls impacting on a center line of a tennis court, the throwing mechanism is controlled for determining a vertical angle and a launching speed of throwing out the balls on basis of linear interpolation between co-ordinates of two check points of the impact of balls, of a training level and a stroke type preselected on the keyboard, and the first check point is a meshing point of a net and the center line of the tennis court, the second check point is a meshing point of a baseline and the center line; for all other balls, also a horizontal angle of throwing out the balls is determined by a simple trigonometric relation, and a memory is provided in the m

  • Patent number: 4860798
Abstract: In a flexible hose reinforced by wire plies, at least two wire plies are provided and the wires of each wire ply are disposed in helical convolutions about the longitudinal axis of the hose. The improvement is in that the wire plies satisfy the following formula: ##EQU1## wherein: subscript b indicated the plies arranged with left hand thread, subscript j indicates the wire plies arranged with right hand thread,r.sub.b and r.sub.b are the mean radii of the wire plies,N.sub.b and N.sub.b are the number of wires in each wire ply,F.sub.b and F.sub.b are the tensile strength of the wires,.alpha..sub.b and .alpha..sub.j are the angles of lay of the respective wire plies,l stands for the number of wire plies with left hand thread,m is the number of wire plies with right hand thread.

  • Patent number: 4793706
Abstract: A system and an associated process are described for the determination of grain size distribution of particles in suspension. The suspension is settled in a settling tank and optical density measurements of the suspension are taken and from this the grain size distribution is determined. According to the invention, the suspension is homogenized by circulating it in the settling tank, then circulating is stopped and the optical density is repeatedly measured in the settling tank on at least three points with deviating spacings. The equipment described is a settling tank (1) for the suspension, a device for the measurement of optical density in the settling tank (1) and a computing unit calculating the grain size distribution from the optical density values measured. The settling tank (1) is equipped with a means for the circulation of the suspension and there are at least three measuring heads (2,3,4,5,6) along the settling tank (1) sensing the optical density.

  • Patent number: 4315915
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved process for the production of practically non-hygroscopic, easily grindable copper(II) sulfate monohydrate which is stable even in finely ground state and can be applied as trace element additive in animal fodders, by neutralizing the free sulfuric acid content of copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate with sodium, potassium or ammonium hydroxide, carbonate or hydrocarbonate (further on: alkaline agent) and removing four moles of its crystal water content by drying at 80.degree. to 150.degree. C. for at least 30 minutes. The improvement according to the invention consists in that copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate, melted in its own crystal water, is treated with 3 to 20% by weight, preferably 5 to 8% by weight, of an alkaline agent calculated as sodium carbonate for the weight of the copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate, over the stoichiometric amount required to neutralize the free sulfuric acid content.
