  • Publication number: 20080034280
Abstract: According to the method of the invention, a set of target files is linked to a main file by encoding the target addresses or URLs of these target files into the primary filename of the main file. Separator characters are used to distinguish the primary filename of the main file and the encoded address of each linked target file. Linked target files may be of any kind including, source files of the main file, metadata, multimedia information and services. Since most file systems do not accept certain characters on valid filenames, addresses of linked target files are encoded so that any forbidden character is replaced by an associated authorized character. A lexicography table stores all pairs of forbidden and corresponding authorized characters. Likewise, since filenames length is generally limited to 256 characters, the encoding process may be optimized to reduce the length of the encoded addresses or URLs.

  • Publication number: 20080017422
Abstract: A method and system for processing information relating to active regions of a page of physical document. A transparent electro-luminescent tablet or other touch sensitive plate is coupled to a workstation and positioned over the page. Active regions traced on the page by a first user are received from the tablet or plate by a workstation and recorded in an active regions table within the workstation. Information recorded in the active regions table include: identification of the active regions and associated hyperlinks received by the workstation from the first user; and geometric coordinates defining an outline of each active region. The workstation receives from a second user coordinates pertaining to a point within at least one active region, from which and from information in the active regions table, the workstation identifies the at least one active region and displays its associated hyperlinks on a computer screen of the workstation.

  • Publication number: 20080016353
Abstract: Method and system for verifying the authenticity and integrity of files transmitted through a computer network. Authentication information is encoded in the filename of the file. In a preferred embodiment, authentication information is provided by computing a hash value of the file, computing a digital signature of the hash value using a private key, and encoding the digital signature in the filename of the file at a predetermined position or using delimiters, to create a signed filename. Upon reception of a file, the encoded digital signature is extracted from the signed filename. Then, the encoded hash value of the file is recovered using a public key and extracted digital signature, and compared with the hash value computed on the file. If the decoded and computed hash values are identical, the received file is processed as authentic.

  • Publication number: 20080003548
Abstract: A user system for detection and access of hyperlinks within a Braille document. A hyperlink table is generated and includes for each touched item on a page of the Braille document: identification of the touched item, a hyperlink associated with the touched item, and spatial coordinates of the touched item on the page of the Braille document. After the hyperlink table is generated, a proximity sensing foil placed under a Braille page senses the position of a user's fingertips and provides coordinates of the sensed position on the Braille page. A distance between the sensed position and spatial coordinates stored in the hyperlink table is determined to be less than a predetermined distance, resulting in alerting the user via a signal, identifying a hyperlink in the hyperlink table associated with the sensed position, retrieving information from a destination address associated with the identified hyperlink, and displaying the retrieved information.

  • Publication number: 20070168657
Abstract: A method for processing a file having an existing filename. A private key associated with a digital certificate and a certificate address from which the digital certificate may be accessed are received from a certification authority (CA) who issued the digital certificate. A digital signature is generated based on the file and the received private key. The digital certificate includes a public key associated with the private key such that the generated digital signature can be verified through use of the public key. The file is signed with the generated digital signature The received certificate address is encoded to generate an encoded address. The existing filename and the encoded address are merged to generate a new filename. The file is renamed with the new filename. The renamed file may be authenticated by verifying the digital signature via execution of an authentication algorithm in conjunction with the public key.
