  • Patent number: 11912405
Abstract: Vertical short takeoff and landing (VSTOL) aircraft include primary airfoils extending outwardly from a forward region of the aircraft fuselage, and secondary empennage airfoils extending outwardly from an aft region of the aircraft fuselage so as to be separated from the forward primary airfoils and thereby define a space therebetween which accommodates non-cyclic controllable propellers operably driven by a respective engine of a propulsion unit. The propulsion units are mounted for pivotal movement within the defined space between the primary airfoil and the secondary empennage airfoils so as to achieve a first operational position wherein the thrust line of the propellers is orientated substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fuselage and a second operational position wherein the thrust line of the propellers is oriented substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. The propulsion units may be mounted aft of the aircraft center of gravity (CG).

  • Publication number: 20110314094
Abstract: A system and its method of operation for managing and storing educational content are disclosed, and specifically the integration and interaction between the computers used by teachers, computers used by students and other peripherals, managing and archiving all actions/activities, allowing an interactivity and interoperability between events that are being conducted in various geographic locations. The system can offer schools, training providers and other entities, an informatics infrastructure that creates an interactive and collaborative environment in the school's classroom/training sessions/business meetings or similar context, enhancing educational performance by introducing new technologies of information and communication applied to education.

  • Publication number: 20110079339
Abstract: Friction stir welding equipment control force spindle for mounting in an orbital head housing uses a coaxial sensor to measure downforce. Simultaneously, an axial electrical actuator is controlled to dynamically correct the axial tool position during the welding, by a direct axial force system control, in order to maintain controlled downforce according to parameters previously set, based on numerical control. The equipment also sets up, monitors and controls spindle rotation speed, welding speed, acceleration speed and downforce using for example closed loop control functions. A laser system may scan the backing surface before welding and correct original tool path, in order to get an offset tool path. A precision alarm system may provide safe welding while preventing the tool from colliding with the backing surface.

  • Publication number: 20070084752
Abstract: A selective catalytic cracking process of natural gas liquid fraction to light olefins and other products is described, the process includes placing in contact (within a reaction zone) said liquid fraction of natural gas, rich in C5+ paraffins, with an MFI type zeolitic catalyst in acid form, having a pore size of at least 4 Angstroms, a silica/alumina ratio of between 10 and 2000, and where the processing conditions involve a temperature of between 350° C. and 650° C., space velocity of between 2 and 100 h?1 and atmospheric pressure, and afterwards carrying out the catalytic cracking to separate products, to recover a product enriched with light olefins, LPG fractions, and aromatics, and where the production of olefins is favored in conditions of higher space velocities, while the production of LPG fractions and aromatics are favored in conditions of lowered space velocities.

  • Patent number: 7016347
Abstract: A system and method of updating radio network data in a plurality of devices deployed in Base Stations (BSs) in a radio telecommunications network. Each BS is interfaced with a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) through an Internet Protocol (IP) packet data network. Device update data is sent in an IP message from the MSC to the BS where the plurality of devices are simultaneously updated. Device updates can be performed at the cell level, the location area level, or the exchange level. In one embodiment, the BS joins a multicast group, and the device update data is sent in an IP multicast message. In another embodiment, the BSs monitor predefined User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports for particular types of device update data, and the device update data is sent in an IP broadcast message.

  • Patent number: 6763004
Abstract: A system and method of paging mobile stations in a cellular telecommunications network that reduces signaling traffic by reducing the number of page messages sent from a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) to Base Stations (BSs) in the network. The MSC sends a single Internet Protocol (IP) broadcast page message over an IP network to which the BSs are connected. User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports in each BSs are dedicated to listening for IP broadcast page messages directed to a given BS's associated location area, location area group, or the network service area.

  • Publication number: 20020107025
Abstract: A system and method for allocating network resources in a cellular telecommunications network to perform a requested service. A capabilities database stores information identifying each particular cell's capability to provide each of a plurality of services. A processor compares the requested service to the information stored in the capabilities database for each cell in order to determine each cell's capability to provide the requested service. A modified cell list is built by eliminating those cells that cannot provide the requested service. A resource controller then allocates network resources only in the cells that can provide the requested service.
