  • Patent number: 7813518
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of current management in a battery powered audio device. According to the invention the method comprises the following steps: a—comparing the actual supply voltage from the battery with a fixed reference voltage, b—generating a control signal whenever the supply voltage is below the reference voltage, c—use the control signal to reduce the load current in the battery powered device, whereby the supply voltage from the battery will increase, d—repeat steps a, b and c whenever the supply voltage is below the reference voltage, and register the rate at which the sequence of steps are repeated, and e—activate an AGC to decrease the output level whenever repetition rate of the a, b and c steps is above a predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 7508950
Abstract: A method of current management in a battery powered device includes the steps of (a) comparing the actual supply voltage from the battery with a fixed reference voltage, (b) generating a control signal whenever the supply voltage is below the reference voltage, (c) using the control signal to reduce the load current in the battery powered device, whereby the supply voltage from the battery will increase, and (d) repeating steps a, b and c as long as the supply voltage is below the reference voltage. A current management system is provided that, when used within a hearing aid, will allow very high load currents and thereby high sound pressure levels to be obtained from the hearing aid. This is achieved without having severe problems with the reduced battery voltage when the battery approaches the end of its lifetime and/or if the air flow within the battery becomes insufficient.

  • Patent number: 7155022
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reducing feedback caused by electromagnetic interference between an induction coil and an output transducer, a voltage supply or an amplifier or a combination thereof, the method comprising: producing by means of a filter an equivalent of an electromagnetic feedback path in a system with a pickup coil and subtraction of the equivalent of the feedback signal from the input signal in order to obtain feedback reduction. The invention further relates to a device for implementing the method, the device comprising an induction coil and an output transducer, voltage supply or an amplifier or a combination thereof. The device further comprises filter means for generating an equivalent of an electromagnetic feedgack signal occurring between the induction coil and an output transducer, a voltage supply or an amplifier or a combination thereof and means for subtracting the equivalent from an input signal in order to obtain feedback reduction.

  • Publication number: 20040151332
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of managing acoustic feedback in a hearing aid, characterised by using a multi (two or more) channel type of filter hereby splitting the frequency range up in two or more separate parts; determining the maximum allowable gain in at least one frequency range before feedback occurs; monitoring the volume control in such a way, that if the maximum allowable gain before feedback occurs is reached, the gain is manipulated for the offending frequency range. The determination of maximum allowable gain and the monitoring of the volume control is applied for several channels. The invention further relates to hearing aid implementing the method according to the method according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 5293008
Abstract: A earwax trap used with hearing-aid apparatus comprises a) in a first part (6) a space (8) adapted to communicate acoustically an interior part of the hearing-aid apparatus with the external auditory meatus of the user's ear, and b) an arrangement for preventing earwax having entered the space (8) from leaving same towards the interior part (3). The latter arrangement comprises at least one piston- or plug-shaped member (7), which is adapted by relative movement between itself and the first part (6) containing the space (8) to enter that space (8) in a first direction away from the interior part of the hearing-aid apparatus, and to leave the space (8) in the opposite direction and thus re-establish the acoustic connection between the interior part and the space (8).
