The controller is further configured to determine the net weight change of the patient by automatically updating a net weight of the non-patient loads on the patient support apparatus.

The controller is operable to transmit the maintenance date and usage information to a remote computing device, wherein the remote computing device is configured to determine an availability status of the patient support apparatus that indicates whether the patient support apparatus is available to be scheduled for maintenance or assigned to a patient, based on the maintenance date and the usage information.
