  • Patent number: 4569239
Abstract: The specification discloses a linear actuator including a quick-release mechanism enabling the actuator to be successfully commercially utilized in a variety of applications including a vehicle speed control. More specifically, the actuator includes an axially reciprocable rod, a mechanism for angularly shifting the rod about its axis between first and second angular orientations, and a quarter-turn coupling for releasably coupling the rod to an element, such as a throttle cable, to be driven thereby. Angular shifting of the rod couples and releases the rod and driven element through the quarter turn coupling. Also disclosed is a vehicle speed control responsive to vehicle acceleration and/or vehicle tilt to deactivate the speed control when either the acceleration or tilt falls outside of acceptable parameters.

  • Patent number: 4530162
Abstract: The specification discloses a system and method for boresighting a firearm using laser technology. More specifically, the system includes a light source for directing a collimated beam of light through the barrel and a muzzle insert defining an aperture having a smaller diameter than the collimated beam. Both the light source and muzzle insert aperture are concentric with the barrel bore, such that the light beam emitted from the bore is a coaxial extension of the barrel usable for boresighting purposes. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the muzzle insert includes a translucent material such that the location of the beam on the insert can be monitored to facilitate alignment of the beam with the barrel.

  • Patent number: 4136962
Abstract: An apparatus for orienting and maintaining the orientation of laser and similar construction equipment in a predetermined orientation with respect to a horizontal plane comprises superimposed first, second and third support plates, each of which is preferably annularly shaped for positioning a laser beam generator therethrough. The third support plate is mounted to and between the first and second support plates for pivotable movement about mutually perpendicular first and second axes, respectively. The first or top plate has level vials mounted perpendicular to the first and second axes for detecting the position of the first plate with respect to a horizontal plane. A pair of threaded screws are threaded into the central third plate to adjust the position of the first plate with respect to the bottom or second plate about the two mutually perpendicular axes.
