    Abstract: A system to transport and deposit nuclear wastes for disposal into abandoned or dry oil wells or other wells or deep holes. The system includes a device for connecting to a canister which holds nuclear waste material, for transporting the canister to a well shaft, for lowering the canister to the bottom of the shaft, and for releasing the canister at the shaft bottom. The device includes spring-biased, self-releasing hooks which deposit the canister in the well and are actuated by a weighted plunger rod. The rod is connected to a cable, pulley and winch which are used to lower the device.
