  • Patent number: 6447045
Abstract: A tonneau cover assembly for a pick-up truck includes a cover that is manufactured by sandwiching a rectangular metal frame between an inner panel and an outer panel. The metal frame provides stability to the cover assembly as well as providing attachment points for the outer components of the tonneau cover assembly. The cover is pivotally attached to a pair of side rails using a four-bar linkage hinge, the four-bar linkage hinge causes the cover to move up from the pick-up box and away from the pick-up cab when the cover is opened. This up and away movement allows the cover to be positioned closer to the cab without causing interference between the cab and the cover when it pivots to its open position.

  • Patent number: 6221290
Abstract: A tonneau cover assembly for the open box of a pick-up truck includes a cover which is manufactured using an injection molding process. The cover is molded from a rigid polyurethane foam reaction injection molding (RIM) system. The cover is reinforced by a reinforcement frame and is attached to a mounting bracket using a hinge assembly. A slam action bracket secures the cover in its closed position and a pair of gas struts supports the cover in its open position. The mounting bracket is adapted to be secured to the pick-up box.

  • Patent number: 6152504
Abstract: The present invention provides a new and improved process of producing vehicle grille guards by gas-assisted injection molding and the grille guards produced thereby. The process includes injecting a plastic resin into a mold cavity in an amount less than the total volume of the mold cavity. An inert gas is then injected into a center portion of the cavity and a hollow gas channel extending throughout the center portion is formed, forcing the plastic resin to flow along an outer surface of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 5915830
Abstract: A running board light assembly is provided having a light source emitting light into a light tube extending along the length of a running board. The light tube casts light directly and uniformly upon a stepping surface of the running board and upon a ground surface below the running board, without directing excessive glare or light into the eyes of the user.
