  • Patent number: 8180506
Abstract: The flight management computer discloses and carried onboard an aircraft can be programmed with a newly apparent speed constraint while it ensures the guidance of the aircraft in the course of a landing runway approach. It then takes account of the speed constraint by using it as target speed, when it is greater than an instruction speed which depends on the number of extended flap settings and which corresponds to the addition of a further flap setting. If appropriate, the speed constraint may be bounded below, thus making it possible to remain within the limits of the flight domain of the aircraft in its configuration at the time.

  • Patent number: 8149141
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for automatically preparing an update of audio communication frequencies between aircraft and ATC stations on the ground, a method making it possible to reduce the communication time associated with the necessary frequency changes between control sectors, therefore limiting the frequency space requirement, and reducing the workload due to the manipulations and control of these frequency changes, both for the air traffic controllers and for the aircraft crews, and wherein the flight plan or the current trajectory followed by the aircraft is dynamically coupled with the geometry information of the control sectors overflown by the aircraft and that, thereby knowing the intersection points of the flight plan with the sector limits, the frequency changes and sector name are prepared before each change of sector, while warning the pilot of their imminence.

  • Patent number: 8126599
Abstract: The general field of the invention relates to a method of calculating a so-called continuous descent approach procedure for aircraft. The method comprises calculation steps making it possible to determine a minimum distance making it possible to attain the runway by using the highest possible descent angles allowed by the performance of the aircraft, a maximum distance making it possible to attain the runway by using the lowest possible descent angles allowed by the performance of the aircraft, a step of comparing the minimum and maximum distances with a reference distance, the continuous descent approach procedure being possible if this reference distance is less than the maximum distance and greater than the minimum distance. The method also envisages replacing certain indeterminate points of the flight plan by points arising from the minimum and maximum distance calculations.

  • Patent number: 8112187
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling the formation flight of at least two aircraft (1,2). The first aircraft (1) includes means of transmitting its position, its velocity and its flight plan. The flight plan has predictions of altitude, velocity and time for at least one next waypoint (WPT). • Patent number: 8090531
Abstract: A method for assisting an aircraft to rejoin a flight plan is disclosed. The flight plan is composed of a number N of flight segments (LEGi, i?[1, N]) with a flight segment LEGi being defined by a departure end (WPTi?1) and by an arrival end (WPTi). A navigation mode is termed “managed mode” wherein, the aircraft has momentarily left the managed mode and has deviated from the flight plan after passing through a waypoint (WPTp, p?[1, N]), the aircraft occupying a position (PPOS) and seeking to rejoin the flight plan so as to follow it in managed mode. The method comprises a step of evaluating the separation distance (Dj, i?[p+1, N]) between the position (PPOS) of the aircraft and each of the waypoints (WPTj, i?[p+1, N]). The local minima of the distance between the position (PPOS) of the aircraft and the waypoints (WPTj, i?[p+1, N]) of the flight plan is determined.

  • Patent number: 8024078
Abstract: A system on an aircraft used during taxiing or air/ground and ground/air transitions. The system groups together a set of devices for mapping the airport zone presenting the crew with a set of elements catalogued in a database and/or updated as a function of information received dynamically. The system group has control or monitoring of compliance with regulations and other mobile craft, consolidating the airport topological information, the ground control instructions and the applicable operational rules. The system groups have routing, that is preparation of the taxiing phase during an arrival or preparation for takeoff, by depicting the interactions with the ground control for receiving the taxiing instructions, and from the aircraft to the ground control to inform the same of the aircraft capabilities. The system groups have guidance in the form of instructions presented to the crew, and of automatic speed management capabilities, for managing emergency situations.

  • Patent number: 8014907
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of assisting in the navigation of an aircraft comprising a step for updating a flight plan according to a new clearance originating from an air traffic control authority and received on board by a ground/onboard communication system. The clearance comprises an action conditional on the flight plan linked to a floating point of the path defined by a time constraint of the aircraft; on receipt of the new clearance, the update is performed directly by means of the FMS linked to the communication system. This is a predictive method.
