  • Patent number: 8319756
Abstract: Apparatus (50) for processing a differential input signal. The apparatus (50) comprises a minimum peak detector (51) with a differential input (28). The peak detector (51) provides a first voltage being proportional to an average voltage peak at the peak detector's differential input (28). A compressor (53) is provided for processing the first voltage in order to provide a second voltage. The compressor (53) is followed by a voltage controllable current source providing a trim current that is adjustable by the second voltage. A hysteresis equipped circuit (67.1) whose hysteresis characteristics are adjustable by the trim current is part of the apparatus (50).

  • Patent number: 7973528
Abstract: A sensor device for detecting a relative movement including a transmitter unit configured to generate a field. The transmitter unit includes first transmitter elements and second transmitter elements, wherein the first transmitter elements and the second transmitter elements, configured to generate a spatially varying field, are arranged alternately one behind another along a line at predetermined positions, and at a reference position, which corresponds to at least one of the predetermined positions of a first or second transmitter element along the line, at least one value of the field is altered by a positive factor with respect to a corresponding other position of a first or second transmitter element. Furthermore, a pick-up unit is configured to generate an alternating output signal depending on the field generated by the first and second transmitter elements, wherein the transmitter unit and the pick-up unit can be moved relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 7956610
Abstract: A sensor for sensing a magnetic field direction has a plurality of magnetoresistive sensor elements, each of which having a main sensitivity direction with respect to a present magnetic field. Lines associated with the main sensitivity directions of the magnetoresistive sensor elements and passing through the magnetoresistive sensor elements intersect in an area outside the magnetoresistive sensor elements themselves.

  • Patent number: 7911237
Abstract: A comparator comprises a differential amplifier (T1, T2, T8, T9) having differential inputs (IN1, IN2) forming the comparator inputs, and a first and a second amplifier output (f1, f2) forming the comparator outputs of a first comparator stage, wherein the differential amplifier has first (T1, T8) and second (T2, T9) parallel branches. The comparator has a first current source circuit (32) defines a current to be driven through the differential amplifier, a second current source circuit (34) comprising a load driven by the first branch and a third current source circuit (36), comprising a load driven by the second branch. Circuitry (T6,T7) is provided for defining the voltage difference between the first and second amplifier outputs when the differential amplifier is in a stable state providing a differential output. This arrangement drives current through the two branches independently, so that the main transistors in each branch can be kept on to enable rapid response times.

  • Patent number: 7856338
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting a reversion of direction of a relative movement between a periodic scale for defining a periodic field and a field sensor. The field sensor outputs first and second sensor signals. The first sensor signal is advanced from the second sensor signal if the periodic field moves in a first direction. The second sensor signal is advanced from the first sensor signal if the periodic field moves in a second direction. A determiner determines the difference between the first sensor signal and a signal corresponding to a temporal change of the second sensor signal or between the second sensor signal and a signal corresponding to a temporal change of the first sensor signal.

  • Publication number: 20080177499
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting a reversion of direction of a relative movement between a periodic scale for defining a periodic field and a field sensor includes a determiner for determining a difference and a detector for detecting the reversion of direction of the relative movement dependent on the certain difference. The field sensor outputs first and second sensor signals upon the periodic field defined by the periodic scale such that, in a first direction of movement of the relative movement, the first sensor signal is advanced from the second sensor signal and, in a second direction, the second sensor signal is advanced from the first sensor signal. The determiner determines the difference between the first sensor signal and a signal corresponding to a temporal change of the second sensor signal or between the second sensor signal and a signal corresponding to a temporal change of the first sensor signal.
