  • Patent number: 4459147
Abstract: An adjusting mechanism is disclosed for the press head of a glassware forming machine of the rotating table type having a plurality of forming units circumferentially spaced for rotation about the axis of the machine. Adjustment is effected by rotating a parallel adjusting rod, which is engaged to a threaded rod. Rotation varies the pressure of the plunger by changing the position of a pinion on the threaded rod, through spring compression or pinion gear rotation, to which the stop lever on the plunger steam will contact. Each forming unit is capable of producing at least two glassware articles per machine cycle. A remote ram spring adjustment means provides operator control of ram spring pressure for each plunger at an accessable height and location.

  • Patent number: 4432783
Abstract: A blowhead mechanism for use in a continuous rotary motion press and blow type glass ware forming machine wherein the blowhead is attached to a shaft which is rotatably mounted on the machine by means of an arm and having a loosely mounted annular cam member on said shaft with a cam track therein having inclined and vertical portions, a cam follower mounted on said shaft in a position to engage the track during rotary movement of the shaft and blowhead, means to rotate the cam member, stop means to limit rotation of the said shaft whereby the shaft and the blowhead rotate from a first position to a second position whereat the shaft is moved vertically downward to place the blowhead onto a blow mold and after blowing the glass ware the shaft is moved up and rotated back to its original position.

  • Patent number: 4417915
Abstract: A delivery system for use for delivering gobs of glass from a plurality of feeder orifices to a plurality of sets of a plurality of blank molds. The blank mold sets are rotated about a central axis with each blank mold of each set being positioned a different radial distance from the axis. The delivery system includes individual gob guiding units each having a lower end positioned over its associated blank mold as each set of blank molds are rotated underneath. The lower end of each unit is moved at a different relative tangential velocity to match the different relative tangential velocity of its associated blank mold. The scoops of the gob guiding units are independently moveable into and out of their feeding positions.

  • Patent number: 4416681
Abstract: A glassware forming apparatus including at least one split below mold moveable between an open and closed position. At least one bottom plate is mounted on the machine for movement into and out of engagement with the blow mold. The means for moving the bottom plate is separate from the means for moving the blow mold. Additionally, a mechanism is provided for moving the bottom plate toward the blow mold along a path in which the bottom plate first pivots about a fixed pivot point and then moves along a straight line coaxial with the axis of the blow mold.

  • Patent number: 4246820
Abstract: A straight line shearing mechanism which includes a unique pneumatic control system to cause the operation of the shears. One feature involves the cushioning of the piston member of the pneumatic cylinder assembly on the return stroke. Another feature is the provision of an automatic retract to open the shears in the event that the shear blades do not complete their cutting stroke. Also, one blade of a set of shear blades may tilt in the event of excess tension between the blades. Additionally, one shear blade is pivotally adjustable about a pin member having an axis extending in the direction of travel of the blades. Further, the drop guides are horizontally adjustable relative to its associated shear blade in the direction of travel of the shear blade and also adjustable about a vertical axis.

  • Patent number: 4246819
Abstract: A straight line shearing mechanism which includes at least one set of oppositely disposed shear blades movable in a straight line toward and away from each other. Mounting means are provided for at least one of the blades which has relative vertical movement with respect to the other of the blades. A mechanism is provided for moving and mounting means vertically with respect to the other blade. The mechanism is operable to move the mounting means during all positions of the shear blades. In addition, the vertically movable shear blade is capable of tilting in the event of excess tension between the blades.
