  • Patent number: 10180035
Abstract: The disclosure describes soldering a first component (200) to a second component (226) for use in a downhole circuit, device and/or tool. The first component (200) includes an electrically conductive contact region (402) finished with a metallic finish layer (404). The soldering includes disposing a layer of manganese (408) adjacent to the metallic finish layer (404), and applying solder (406) to the layer of manganese (408). The solder (406) used in the soldering of the two components is a mixture of copper, silver and tin.

  • Publication number: 20180252761
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure can relate to systems or devices for detecting a lifespan parameter of a power transistor of an electronic device. In an embodiment, a device can include a differential probe configured to connect to a first terminal and a second terminal of a power transistor. The device can also include a voltage detector that senses a voltage signal from the differential probe and a controller configured to determine a lifespan parameter of the power transistor based on the voltage signal. In another embodiment, the voltage detector and the controller can be included in an electronic device (e.g., a drilling tool or another downhole tool). In another embodiment, the voltage detector can be in the electronic device, where the electronic device includes an external port that provides a differential voltage signal detected by the voltage detector to an external measurement tool (e.g., oscilloscope or the like).

  • Publication number: 20170016952
Abstract: A fixture for connecting a printed wiring assembly (PWA) to an acceleration table for subjecting the PWA to highly accelerated stress screen (HASS) testing. The fixture comprises a member and multiple spacers. First openings extend through the member for receiving fasteners to connect the member to the acceleration table such that the member is spaced from the acceleration table. Second openings extend into the member for receiving fasteners to connect the PWA to the member. A third opening extends through the member to expose a substantial portion of a surface of the PWA. Also disclosed is a method comprising selecting a PWA for HASS testing, determining which one of a plurality of predetermined PWA categories includes the selected PWA, and conducting the HASS test on the selected PWA utilizing HASS testing parameters associated with the determined PWA category.
