  • Patent number: 5277706
Abstract: The invention relates to techniques for forming fibres from glass or other thermoplastics materials by internal centrifugation associated with gaseous drawing at high temperature. The material to be converted to fibres is poured into a centrifuge, the peripheral face of which is pierced with a vast number of orifices from which the material is sprayed in the form of filaments drawn out into fibres and entrained by a flow of gas at elevated temperature and velocity and directed along the periphery of the centrifuge, cross-wise to the direction in which the fibres are projected and channelled by a layer of cold gases enveloping it which, according to the invention, is formed over the entire perforated height of the peripheral face by diverging individual jets which combine again shortly after the lowest row of orifices in the peripheral face.

  • Patent number: 4661135
Abstract: A technique of forming fibers, employing a drawing apparatus which apparatus is comprised of a centrifuge combined with a hot gas flow produced by a burner. The burner emits a continuous envelope along the centrifuge. This envelope is produced such that it flow out at the origin of a hyperboloidal configuration. This outflow is produced by feeding the burner from feed conduits which are inclined with respect to the axis of the burner.

  • Patent number: 4594086
Abstract: The present invention relates to the formation of fibre felts which are produced on centrifugation wheels, the material to be fiberized being conducted to the periphery of these wheels from the outside thereof, and the fibres being carried by gaseous currents to the receiving device (9).In order to improve the distribution of the fibres within these felts, additional gaseous jets are blown on the sides of the gaseous currents carrying the fibres along the lateral walls (10,11) bordering the receiving device (9).The invention enables satisfactory transverse distribution of the fibres to be achieved.
