  • Patent number: 6714106
Abstract: A manually operable switch has an opening handle pivotally mounted on a housing for moving a set of contacts in the housing from one position to another. A force generating arrangement is mounted outside the switch housing, and a force translation system extends between the housing and the force generating arrangement. The force translation system has a first end structure movable into and out of contact with the operating handle, and a second end structure disposed for movement in the force generating arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6613995
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a switch having a housing includes a support panel having a wall structure defining an opening therein sized and shaped to receive the housing of the switch. The housing of the switch has a periphery formed with flaring, deformable stabilizing protrusions engageable in a continuous wedging relationship with edges of the opening wall structure to facilitate securement of the switch to the support panel.

  • Patent number: 6600122
Abstract: An electrical switch includes a housing within which a pair of spaced apart stationary contacts are located. A center contact is positioned between the pair of spaced apart stationary contacts. A movable contact member has a fulcrum section engaged with the center contact, and a pair of arms extending outwardly therefrom. Each arm carries a movable contact, and the movable contact is adapted for movement so as to selectively establish an electrical path between the center contact and one of the stationary contacts, by movement of the movable contact member about the fulcrum section. An actuator includes a spring biased plunger engaged with the movable contact member, for providing rocking movement of the movable contact member in response to movement of the actuator. The plunger includes a head portion which moves on the surfaces of the movable contact member for moving the movable contact member between ON and OFF positions.

  • Patent number: 6196703
Abstract: A control system is provided for use in conjunction with a lighting fixture which will provide additional safety by avoiding the risk of fire. The safety system provides a number of sensors which are capable of detecting the presence of objects in close proximity to the lighting element and appropriately switching power off when such objects are detected. The actual detection is accomplished by use of a plurality of infrared sensors which create an infrared shield around the bulb of the lighting fixture and insure no objects intrude upon the shielded space while the lighting system is in operation. A second safety benefit is provided by the use of a tilt switch. The tilt switch cuts off power to the lamp if the lamp is tipped or knocked over.

  • Patent number: 5365062
Abstract: A low cost assembly comprising only three major components: a circuit board assembly, a molded plastic housing and a molded plastic cover. The plastic parts are transparent polycarbonate (natural "Lexan") wherein the housing has an integrally molded optical quality lens. Mounting features are integrally molded on the housing and cover. The circuit board assembly uses a common board, trace pattern and terminals and can be either a source or detector by appropriate selection of electronic components mounted to the board. A plurality of rounded bosses on the housing and larger round recesses in edges of the circuit board provide a light interference fit between housing and board to firmly hold the board in place and provide correct orientation of the board relative to the housing. The board may be readily removed and replaced for field repair of the sensor.

  • Patent number: 5233324
Abstract: A wire-wound bobbin serves as the core of a current transformer. A magnetic material flux path is disposed on the core that encircles the core coincident with the coils of the bobbin at least once and radially encircles the cross section of the core at lest once. The magnetic flux path comprises an assembly of distinct magnetic members positioned on the core and held in place by tape or the like.
