  • Publication number: 20070289092
Abstract: Method for manufacturing a hinge mechanism including: a movable flange and a stationary flange; holding means for ensuring holding of the stationary and movable flanges. The method includes the following steps: the holding means are applied to the stationary flange, a portion of the holding means being in radial contact with an outside portion of the movable flange, the holding means are fastened to the stationary flange, at the same time, a clamping pressure is applied to the holding means, this clamping pressure being directed radially in order to apply a radial pressure of the holding means on the movable flange, so as to take up the play in the hinge.

  • Publication number: 20040036338
Abstract: A vehicle seat comprises a seat back mounted to pivot on a seat proper via first and second hinges, each of which has two pivotally mounted cheek plates that can be locked by locking members mounted to move inside the cheek plates, the locking members of the first hinge being mounted to slide radially only, and the locking members of the second hinge being mounted to slide radially and with a certain amount of play in a circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 6669297
Abstract: A hinge mechanism for a vehicle seat for adjusting the inclination of the seat back relative to the seat proper. The mechanism comprises: two rigid strength members mounted to pivot relative to each other, one of the strength members being a moving member secured to the seat back and the other being a fixed member secured to the seat proper; at least two slugs adapted to be moved between a position in which they prevent the strength members from moving relative to each other, and a retracted position; and a circular ramp which pivots with the seat back and which can keep a control slug in its retracted position, with the angular sum of the locking angular sector and the unlocking angular sector of the ramp occupying at least 120° about the pivot axis. The invention also provides a seat fitted with such a mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6561585
Abstract: A hinge mechanism comprises a moving cheek-plate having a circular set of teeth and a stationary cheek-plate carrying first and second toothed slugs that slide radially in order to engage the set of teeth. The first slug normally slides without circumferential clearance over the stationary cheek-plate while the second slug slides with clearance between two guides that diverge towards the set of teeth so as to co-operate with them to form two wedge-shaped spaces that receive two wedges projecting from either side of the second slug.

  • Patent number: 6554361
Abstract: A hinge mechanism comprising a fixed cheek plate, a moving cheek plate provided with a circular set of teeth, two toothed slugs disposed at 120° relative to each other, which slugs are slidable relative to the fixed cheek plate and are adapted to co-operate with the circular set of teeth in order to lock the moving cheek plate, a cam for controlling radial displacement of the slugs, and two abutments belonging to the fixed cheek plate, each plate facing the rear end of a corresponding one of the slugs and serving as a bearing surface for the cam.

  • Patent number: 5174630
Abstract: A resilient seat back return device used in two-door vehicles is provided. Between the mobile flange of the articulation and the fixed flange of the same articulation a connection link is pivotally mounted to the sitting portion flange whereby, the connection link is connected by a small helical spring to the module flange of the seat back so that, when the seat back is lowered over the sitting portion, the spring is in an unstressed state while the spring is normally under tension when the seat back occupies an intermediate position and is sufficiently stressed when the seat back is placed in the prolongation of the sitting portion to form a berth, the spring then occupying a position in which it is sufficiently powerful to move up the seat back from the seat. Due to its fixation points a spring of small volume and of short elongation but with a very high pulling force is used.
