  • Patent number: 5309774
Abstract: For taking liquid samples, such as active solutions in an irradiated nuclear fuel processing plant within a confined area (10) located below a protective slab (12), use is made of vacuum pots (44), which are pneumatically transferred into a vessel (14) located beneath the slab and which are engaged on needles (40) supplied with fluid to be sampled and projecting into the bottom of the vessel. A pot (44) is moved pneumatically into a nacelle, pod or basket (76) of a rotary drum (72) by means of a transfer duct (60), which passes through a slab element (62) installed in a rotary plug (20). The positioning of the pot vertically with respect to a needle (40) is ensured by the combined rotations of the drum (72) and the plug (20). A vertical displacement of the slab element (62) ensures the sampling before the filled pot is pneumatically evacuated by the reverse path.

  • Patent number: 4732527
Abstract: A procedure for transferring an object along an axis, from a contaminated and radioactive zone to a clean zone without breaking the confinement when the zones are separated by a slab is disclosed. The slab contains a plug and the object can be secured to the plug with the use of a stationary pre-enclosure (43) equipped with two plugs (44 and 46) and of a movable transfer enclosure (47) equipped with one plug (48). The enclosure and pre-enclosure are placed in alignment with the transfer axis.

  • Patent number: 4577112
Abstract: The invention relates to a movable enclosure for the replacement and transportation of contaminated parts, as well as to a complementary confinement casing. The enclosure comprises a confinement body in which is received a cylinder having at least two cavities. Each cavity contains a gripping head, which can be introduced into an opening of the body and intended to be tightly arranged in the extension of the housing of a part to be replaced. The locking of the part onto the head is obtained by manipulating a pull handle located in the handling rod and used for displacement of each gripping head in its cavity. Application to interventions on nuclear installations located in confinement cells.

  • Patent number: 4516436
Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid sampling bench of the type in which sampling takes place by means of a container sealed by an elastic plug, which is perforated on a hollow needle connected to a tank containing the liquid to be sampled. The latter is positioned beneath a biological protection slab and comprises a sealed vessel located beneath the slab and integral therewith and which contains the end fittings of the hollow needles. It also comprises a mechanical device for introducing and manipulating the containers and whereof at least the lower part traverses the slab and terminates in the vessel level with the needle end fittings. Application is to sampling radioactive liquids in the nuclear industry.
