  • Patent number: 6268314
Abstract: A CO2-foamable gelling composition and use of said composition for conformance control operations are described The gelling fluid comprises a decomposing agent to counteract the detrimental effect of CO2 on the gelling process.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 30, 1997
Date of Patent: July 31, 2001
    Assignee: Schlumberger Technology Corporation
Inventors: Trevor Lloyd Hughes, Stephen Nigel Davies, Francois Friedmann
  • Patent number: 5042583
Abstract: A process for the recovery of oil from a petroleum reservoir by improving steam sweep efficiency during steam-flooding, wherein a foaming agent is added to divert steam to unswept zones and the reservoir is penetrated by at least one injection well and at least one production well, which process comprises injecting steam and a surfactant solution into an injection well, while concurrently and separately injecting an additional amount of liquid water into the injection well; and recovering oil from a production well.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 25, 1990
Date of Patent: August 27, 1991
Assignee: Chevron Research and Technology Company
    Inventors: Adrian D'Souza, Francois Friedmann
  • Patent number: 5005644
Abstract: A method of enhanced oil recovery using foam to improve the effectiveness of steam to mobilize viscous crude, either for steam stimulation in a single well or for steam drive between wells. A new surfactant composition having branched alkyl aromatic sulfonates as the effective agent for the steam foamer is used because of its ability to foam in the presence of substantial pore volumes of residual oil and thereby mobilize significant amounts of producible oil by diverting steam to less-permeable zones.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 6, 1989
Date of Patent: April 9, 1991
    Assignee: Chevron Research Company
