  • Publication number: 20230114942
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for checking the integrity of a glue joint which is to be checked and which connects one portion of a body box and a body skin, which define an inner volume therebetween. The method includes: arranging at least one ultrasound sensing device in the inner volume; emitting a pressurized directional air jet opposite a predetermined area of the glue joint; recording a noise level detected by the ultrasound sensing device in the inner volume; and determining an integrity defect in the glue joint according to the recorded noise level.

  • Publication number: 20180282582
Abstract: Method for adhering a first part made of plastic material (MP) and a second part, in which at least one thickness of adhesive is deposited onto at least one of said parts, and the other part is placed against the thickness of adhesive, wherein: at least one electromagnetic wave of a given wavelength is selected, such that the transmission of said plastic material (MP) in relation to this wave is not zero, and such that the absorbance of the adhesive in relation to this wave is not zero; and at least some of the adhesive is heated by irradiating it by transmitting said electromagnetic wave through said plastic material (MP) to activate and/or accelerate cross-linking of the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 9844910
Abstract: The invention relates to a punching and/or welding machine for acting on a piece of motor vehicle bodywork that is made of plastics material, the machine having movable punching and/or welding tools, each of which is adjusted to perform a punching and/or welding operation and that are transferred from a waiting position to a working position for performing the punching and/or welding operation, the punching and/or welding operation being performed in three stages: a) transferring from a waiting position at a distance from a skin of the piece in order to come into a working position in contact with the skin; b) performing the punching and/or the welding; and then c) returning to the waiting position; the device further comprising a support for receiving the skin in a determined position.

  • Patent number: 8555506
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a painted part of plastic material for the automobile industry having an opening, including the steps of molding the part and then, in the following order: painting the part; after painting, punching the part without edge-rounding using a punch to obtain the orifice; and after punching and extracting the punch from the orifice, rounding the edge of the opening of the orifice to have a predetermined radius of curvature in a radial section across the edge.

  • Patent number: 7425241
Abstract: This assembly of a trim part of thermoplastic material for a motor vehicle with another part having a thin portion of thermoplastic material is such that the thin portion presents through orifices and the melting of the trim part together with the thin portion is localized solely at the outlines of the through orifices. In the assembly method, the melting of material is obtained by welding, by means of tangential vibrations of a bit in an ultrasound frequency range. The tangential vibrations are applied to the thin portion of the other part so as to form at least one through orifice in said part and so as to cause melting of said part together with the trim part at the outline of the orifice.

  • Publication number: 20060131926
Abstract: The invention relates to a motor vehicle door member (10) comprising an appearance part constituted by an outside skin (12) of polyolefin, and a structural part (14) having a coefficient of expansion that is less than that of the skin, the two parts being united by a bead of adhesive placed on a face of one of the two parts facing a face of the other part. The adhesive presents: breaking elongation lying in the range 20% to 800%; purely elastic elongation over a fraction of its breaking elongation; and Young's modulus lying in the range 0.5 MPa to 300 MPa. After bonding, the bead of adhesive presents a nominal thickness lying in the range 0.8 mm to 3 mm.
