  • Patent number: 6055764
Abstract: A surf casting system employing a specially designed bow and arrow and a reel which are capable of projecting a fishing line along with a leader line, hook and bait to distances greater than 100 yards, permitting fishing at distances from the shore that were heretofore generally unattainable with conventional equipment. The bow supports the reel which carries the fishing line. The axis of rotation of the reel is oriented parallel to the direction of flight of the arrow, enabling the line to spill off from the reel at the high speed of the arrow. A line damping system is employed to keep the line sufficiently taught and confined to preventing the tangling of the line as it is released from the reel. The damping system is designed to function without appreciably affecting the speed and distance of the arrow. The composition and density of the arrow is varied to permit either surface or bottom fishing.

  • Patent number: 5745928
Abstract: A toilet bowl dispensing system, that includes an agent chamber for retaining a cleaning or disinfecting agent in a separate container away from the main body of water in the toilet tank. The agent chamber is sealed with a cap having an inlet and outlet tube. The inlet tube is connected to the inlet water valve in the tank of a toilet, while the outlet tube is connected to the bowl refill tube. The chamber cap is securely connected to the chamber to provide a water tight seal, however, the cap can be removed to install a cleaning agent such as chlorine pellets. In the operation of this system, the water from the inlet valve, which normally is used to refill the bowl, is first directed through the agent chamber and past the agent to produce a metered amount of dissolved agent which enters the toilet bowl only after the toilet has been flushed.

  • Patent number: 5671568
Abstract: A hurricane shelter generally comprising a dome shaped cover and a cylindrically shaped base wall, designed to be sufficiently small and aesthetically pleasing to enable it to be located without difficulty near a home or a trailer and provide quick access to needed shelter in times of emergency. At other times, the dome can be raised on its own central column above the base wall to form an umbrella-like covering over the base wall. The column is designed to support a table top, making it possible to convert this safety structure into a shaded outdoor table, or in the case of a large shelter unit, into a gazebo, a useful addition to a home throughout the entire year in areas subject to hurricanes.

  • Patent number: 5588480
Abstract: A heat transfer apparatus designed to control the temperature of objects placed within the apparatus over a wide temperature range of 42 to 180 degrees F. utilizing as a heating and cooling source a combined heating and air conditioning system of the type which control the temperature of a living space over only a typically narrow temperature range of between 65 and 80 degrees F. While serving as the source for the heat transfer apparatus, the combined heating and air conditioning system can continue to serve its primary function of controlling the temperature of a living space without difficulty. In a preferred embodiment, no internal modification of the heating and air-conditioning system is required for it to operate with the present invention as well as perform its primary function.

  • Patent number: 5401924
Abstract: A remote battery switch for motor vehicles provides for the remotely controlled disconnection and connection of the vehicle electrical system, for long term storage or carjacking threats. The switch attaches directly to the side terminal or top post connector of a standard motor vehicle battery, without further need for additional structural attachment. A cord or cable is run from the battery switch to the vehicle passenger interior, and is preferably discreetly accessible by the vehicle operator should the need arise. The cord or cable serves to open the switch by releasing a magnetic contact and withdrawing the magnetic switch bar against a spring, whereupon the switch bar is caught and retained by a double acting catch. A second pull on the cord releases the catch, whereupon the spring pulls the magnetic switch bar into magnetic contact with the other switch point to close the circuit. Thus, the switch may be remotely opened and closed using purely tensile forces in the cord.

  • Patent number: 5361425
Abstract: A retainer provides for the prevention of lateral slippage or movement of a toilet seat or a toilet bowl rim. Typically, bowl rims are not uniformly level or even, and conventional bumpers, along with the play generally found in the seat hinges, allow a seat to slip laterally relative to the rim, and occasionally drop slightly as the bumper(s) is/are displaced to one edge of the bowl rim as the seat shifts. The present retainers each include inner and outer depending retainer portions, which serve to prevent lateral displacement of the seat in either direction relative to the rim. Thus, only a single retainer is required, although preferably two are installed on opposite sides of the seat bottom and toward the front of the seat for uniformity. The present retainers include a resilient intermediate portion, which allows the depending retainer portions and member from which they depend, to arcuately rock to accommodate uneven bowl rims. The device(s) may be mechanically or adhesively secured to the seat bottom.
