  • Patent number: 7610850
Abstract: An apparatus for slicing apples is provided. The slicer utilizes thinner blades than known in the art, with a thickness less than 300 microns, and preferably between 180 and 220 microns. Each of the thinner blades is supported against bending, warping or twisting by a novel clinch buckle which rigidly supports the outer end or ends of each blades. The clinch buckle is rigidly connected to bent tabs formed at the outer end or ends of each blade and supports the outer ends across the full width of the blades. The clinch buckle is supported by an outer blade support ring and is captured by the outer support ring to prevent rotation of the clinch buckle. The thinner blade reduces cell damage, reduces the amount of sealant or neutralizer needed to slow or prevent oxidation of enzymes released from cells ruptured by slicing, and delays the onset of browning. A serrated blade is used to further reduce the extent of cell damage.

  • Patent number: 5816286
Abstract: A pressure unloading pilot operated fluid pressure regulator having a throttling element for controlling fluid flow. A pilot amplifier senses regulator outlet pressure and supplies suitable loading pressure coupled from an inlet supply pressure line through a variable flow restrictor to the throttling element. A check valve has a preset differential pressure defined between the check valve inlet and outlet and is mounted in parallel flow with the flow restrictor to limit the maximum differential pressure across the throttling element to the preset differential pressure of the check valve.

  • Patent number: 5739434
Abstract: A formed metal diaphragm for use in fluid pressure regulators includes a dome-shaped central portion and a convoluted shaped flexible area. The convoluted shaped flexible area includes a series of radially spaced elliptically shaped impressions in the diaphragm surface. The major elliptic axis of each impression is aligned with a radius emanating from the center of the diaphragm. The minor ellipse axis of the impressions is located on a concentric axis outward from the center of the diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 5542681
Abstract: A fluid valve graphite packing assembly with graphite packing rings and thin PTFE disc rings surrounding an operating valve member. Softer graphite packing rings on the interior are bounded by progressively harder graphite packing rings. A PTFE disc ring is inserted between the graphite packing rings. The packing is subjected to sufficient packing stress to cause the PTFE disc rings to extrude onto the operating valve member. A laminated packing ring formed of alternating sheets of flexible graphite and PTFE which is die cut to provide a crown shaped cross-section aiding in enabling PTFE extrusion to enhance valve operating member lubrication and sealing.
