  • Patent number: 5232046
Abstract: Continuous casting apparatus comprising a tundish having a pouring nozzle communicating with a closed, pressurized pouring box which has an outlet corresponding to the inlet of a mold such that the entry conditions of liquid metal into the mold are not adversely affected by the flow of liquid metal into the mold thereby providing a uniform skin of solid metal about a liquid metal core as the cast product is withdrawn from the mold.

  • Patent number: 5226544
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reusable pallet wrapper used to secure palletized cartons stacked onto a pallet. The wrapper includes a flexible panel with rigid reinforcement at two ends. Straps are attached to one rigid end of the wrapper, and buckles are attached to the other rigid end of the wrapper. When the straps are inserted through the buckles and tension applied the wrapper panel will be secured around a stack of palletized objects with even tension across its width. This wrapper reduces the amount of damage to articles being wrapped.

  • Patent number: 5152334
Abstract: A guide roll assembly associated with a continuous caster supports both faces of a dimensionably unstable metal strand at it solidifies and cools. A frame segment has a first frame member operatively connected with movable second frame member. The first frame member supports first guide rolls and stops. The second frame member supports second guide rolls and also rotatable cams. An anchor clamped with the stops, anchors the cams to the first frame member when a piston cylinder clamps the anchor against the first frame member to establish a nominal roll gap dimension. Motors rotate the cams to reposition the second frame member and the second guide rolls mounted on it and thereby adjust the nominal roll gap dimension. Frame segments can be oriented by camming to provide a taper line to contact both faces of a shrinking strand or to perform a soft reduction upon it.
